Habitat team scours the globe, throughout Europe and Asia, in one-of-a-kind, handcrafted pieces both history and soul.

An organic vibe permeates the showroom, as natural materials and finishes are celebrated in the designs. A veritable jungle of living plants emphasizes the art of living green. Decidedly not a “matching set” company, the distinct and deliberate mix of bohemian, vintage, and contemporary textures and styles creates an aesthetic that is unique to Habitat. Owner Lars Kieler defines their customer service as “going out of the way to say yes, we can install this, customize that, and you can have it when and exactly how you want it.” If you can’t get your fill at the Santa Barbara store, then head north to the San Luis Obispo showroom or for a real treasure hunt, visit their 30,000 square foot warehouse. It’s tucked away just off of Highway 1 in Arroyo Grande. The thoughtfully-curated and well-organized space is brimming with thousands of unique handmade pieces, antiques, decor items, custom furniture, and inspiring vignettes. Customers can peruse rows of raw wooden planks, to hand-select the perfect shape, wood grain, and length to create a truly custom table-top. Visits to the warehouse are by appointment only and so worth the beautiful drive.
