SAXILBY LIBRARY The work on the Library has finally been completed and we were proud to open this major new Village facility last month. If you haven't been to look around yet, please come down to the Community Centre and give the Library a visit. You'll be surprised at how its changed and what a good new facility we now have! Its open 7 days per week 9am to 7pm; a dramatic increase on what was offered previously ……………………...………………
You may be aware that we wer e awar ded Neighbourhood Plan Front Runner status by Government and have been given £20K to produce a Plan for the Village. Now we have put the Olympic Torch and the Library reopening to bed we shall be concentrating on this to give a clear Plan on how
the Village will develop over the next 10 years. We are aware of Builders already interested in coming to the Village and we will be speaking to these to ensure that what development we are required to have is managed and is what we want as a Village. If you have thoughts on this please do not hesitate to contact Louise who will forward your comments onto me. ……………………………….……
For those who use the Station will have noticed substantial amounts of Groundwork's taking place to the north of the Station House. This is to house a Bridge over the tracks for when the increased Freight traffic starts in 2014. We have in the past tried to get network Rail to reinstate the Path from Sykes Lane to the Platforms and I will as this question again.
November and December will see the Remembrance Service and also our Lights Switch-on; please come and join us on both of these Village Events. Boxing Day will also see the Annual Duck Race on the Canal. Again please come and support this; it partly funds the annual Dutch Visits which in 2013 means that a party will be visiting Saxilby at Easter. ……………………………….………
Finally we have recently received correspondence from LCC Highways that they have considered our requests for reviewing Speed Limits in the Village. I understand that they are recommending 30mph for Mill Lane and a reduced Speed Limit on A57 by the village. We feel this is a success and is something we, with others have been looking for some time. Peter Odam

We have had a report from the wardens that during recent grass cutting on Sykes Lane they found a number of bags of dog mess that were left at the bottom of the hedge. We ask that people please put all rubbish including material such as this into the bins provided. On another note we have had very positive feedback from people visiting the new library in the St. Andrews Centre, we do encourage anyone that has not seen it to come down and have a look.
