Being “greener” can allow you to feel even better about your efforts to romance your spouse or partner. Luxury costs, but I‟ve got some ideas on ways you can capture the essence of excess, on a humble budget.

I hope that these ideas will inspire you to step beyond your habits and do something to reignite the passionate embraces, tender glances, loving smiles and, well… you get the idea!

Another box of Chocolates? Really? WHAT YOU CAN DO INSTEAD!

W

hat happened when you presented your darling another box of chocolates last Valentine‟s Day?

Did you sleep on the couch? The car? A motel? Does your sweetie even like chocolates really? The bottom line is that, unless you make it, decorate it, package it and finish with a hand-tied, grosgrain ribbon bow, chocolates are tired, tired: TIRED! Unless they are fabulous, imported, high-quality and at least sixty-percent pure Cacao content. The gift of chocolate--- especially that from the local pharmacy, does not qualify as classy, elegant or thoughtful. You can do better and we‟re here to help! You‟re a busy person right? Perhaps you‟re on a budget? Useless in a kitchen? Fear not! Here are some fantastic ways to show your love and appreciation for your baby, without being just another repeat of the years past. Be creative! With only a little planning, or an expert, you can DO it! You definitely want something that you can feed to your sweetheart with fingers or a fork! Pull out the GOOD silver! 1. What are your Honey’s favorite fruits? Sugar them and place them in a beautiful crystal bowl or basket for presentation after you return home from dinner out. Serve them with a nice Champagne, or sparkling wine. Maybe with a nice Chardonnay? Expense: $

2. Are you a bit more skilled in the kitchen? Here‟s a sensuous, flavorful, decadent cheesecake of love! Mango-Pineapple-Lime Cheesecake with Ginger Crust! Expense: $$ 3. For the gourmet chef (or someone not quite that skilled, but unafraid of a pot!) Romantic dinner ideas for two! a. Cooking For Her b. Cooking For Him Expense: $$$ 4. Not into the whole cooking thing? Call our concierge department to book a table for you, even at the toughest restaurant. Perhaps a private Chef? You can be more romantic than you ever imagined! They‟ve been known to get a table at a sold-out place for a client in need! 877.529.0587 (Toll-Free) “Savoir” Magazine

A Greener, More Eco-Friendly, Approach! You Can Be Eco-Savvy!

You don‟t have to feel guilty when planning your romantic Valentine‟s Day particulars! Here is a very simple list of ways you can “green” up your big night.

1. If you plan to give flowers, try to search for a florist that offers organic, sustainably harvested blossoms. Just one example is: Organic Bouquet, but order them NOW, because--- depending on the variety of flower, they may need a day or two to open. 2. If you‟re preparing a meal, or even going out for one, shop for--- or order--- local food items, such as local vegetables, fish, fowl, et cetera. 3. Try to find organic or locally produced wines and spirits for your meal. 4. Consider organizing or hosting a Valentine‟s Day party with neighbors and friends. Encourage people to walk, bike or carpool to get there. You can all cook as a group and reduce the number of kitchens, power and fossil-fuels consumed in the process. Set up tables for two!! 5. Consider your decorations, packaging and wrapping of your gifts. You can do well with organic decorations such as Raffia or recycled papers. 6. Unless you‟re using biodegradable plates and cups, please use dishwasher safe items and wash them, preferably by hand after the meal.

Luxurious Concepts That Are Less Expensive Than You Think! VIP Style That Will Live in Your Valentine’s Heart Forever!

Here is a list of “Do’s and Don’ts” that can help you capture the feeling and sensuosity of luxury, good-living and joie de vivre this Valentine’s Day without breaking the bank! 1. DO CREATE ATMOSPHERE by playing VERY romantic music, through the best sound system you have. My personal winner for this, and any romantic occasion is the amazing recording called “Pure and Simple” by award-winning vocalist: JOHN DE MARCO! This music is perfect for “creating the mood”! It is a fantastic, classic, classy assortment of gems of the “American Songbook”. Be certain that the volume is just loud enough that it won‟t prevent you from hearing your beloved‟s sweet nothings that get whispered in your ears! 2. DO AVOID GARLIC AND FRYING. Fragrance is critical: If you‟re cooking-in , your home will smell of all the great flavors you‟ve assembled! I would avoid cooking fish! I would carefully consider not frying anything because fried foods have a strong, not always pleasant, lingering odor. You might wish to omit the garlic also! If you plan to kiss someone. 3. DO SPRING FOR A PRIVATE CHEF to come into your home and prepare your special meal! They leave the place spotless and will leave you both with time to snuggle, and not a dish to wash! It is not as expensive as you might think! 4. DO LEAVE THE MATRIX! There is no possible reason that you need to remain jacked into the network on Valentine‟s Day! Anyone who‟d call you, as a part of a couple, on Valentine‟s Day, might need to be removed from your holiday card list! Turn off the phones, status updates, push notifications and Voxer. In fact, unless someone is ill and needs to reach you, or the sitter needs to find you, think about turning the phone off completely for a while. 5. DO GET SOME FLOWERS! Red roses are beautiful and just fine… but if you‟ve waited this long to make your Valentine‟s plans, you may find a lot of shops sold-out! This could leave you heading to the SevenEleven, Piggly Wiggly or the Walmart for one of those awful, pre-made, cellophane-wrapped, bucket bouquets--- just like last time! 6. DO DITCH THE PETS! See if you are able to send the pussy or pooch to hang out at a neighbor‟s. Putting them in another room for the evening may also be an option if they don‟t have separation anxiety issues. You want to minimize all distractions--- especially today! 7. DO INVEST in a nice bottle of something special! Use the correct glass for the type of refreshment you‟re serving. DON‟T be the one serving martinis in a big ole red plastic cup! You can likely find most glasses (flutes, rocks, shot, pony, cordial, wine and snifters) at a .99 cent store. But hurry! It matters. 8. DON’T GET HAMMERED! There will be nothing less romantic than over-imbibing and ending up DEEP in your cups! You‟ll pass out. Like a manatee. A sad, sexless, drooling, snoring manatee, with a partner who is bitter! 9. DON’T FORGET ANYTHING you might need from the Pharmacy! Do you know what I‟m talking about? This list should include breath spray. I wouldn‟t like to kiss a funky sneaker. Would you!? 10. DO MAKE IT COUNT! Pull out the good china and cloth napkins and table cloth. This is a special occasion! Get loads of UNSCENTED candles (and trim the wicks to ¼ inch). For a little hint of fragrance, you could spray (ONE SQUIRT--- of GOOD perfume/cologne) on COLD light bulbs in romantic areas--before you turn them on. 11. DO MAKE AN EFFORT! My grandfather used to tell me that “you never miss the water „til the well runs dry!” Show your loved one that they DO matter to you! You can be a SCHLUMP any day of the year. Show some EXTRA love to your darling on this day for lovers! Don‟t take them for granted or you might be single next year. “Savoir” Magazine

I HATE my house!

Is space a concern at your place? Is your apartment or home just too small to be a full scale “love-nest”? Here are some ideas for taking your Valentine‟s Day celebration elsewhere! Are you just dating and not ready to reveal your “pad”?

“There‟s a Place for Us”! 1. Host your special celebration on a boat, yacht, catamaran or schooner. We have much experience in creating intimate, private, romantic dinners on the water. Add a Chef, some music, décor and many other small touches and voila! Romance! Ask us how. 2. Select a hotel with a restaurant on their property. You can wine and dine in style and spend the night in a beautiful room in the same place. 3. Let’s put you both in a hot air balloon, with champagne, hors d‟oeuvres and the engagement ring! 4. Take in a concert or visit a cabaret or jazz club. Then drinks, dinner and a carriage ride. 5. Why not a picnic in the park on the lake? Gourmet goodies, a picnic hamper from Harrods (or make your own), bug spray insect coils, cashmere blanket, harem pillows, flower petals, champagne, music… you‟re bound to get a kiss for your efforts! 6. A nighttime helicopter flight over the city, strategically placed Luminarias on one of the rooftops --- spelling a message for your baby! A limo to a fabulous restaurant, a celebrity vocalist or ensemble to suddenly appear and serenade your mate! 7. Boat to a private island for a couple‟s massage on the beach at the shoreline, acoustic guitarist playing Brasilian love songs, your mate‟s favorite meal for dinner and a midnight, moonlight swim in the tropical waters. 8. A sushi making class, wine tasting or chocolate making workshop. 9. A gallery opening, play, dance class, or hand make the ring for your mate, with their help… then give them the ring you just made on bended knee! 10. Take a day-long, “Cruise to Nowhere” with a day of spa treatments and pampering in preparation for a private meal onboard and a stroll on the deck under the moon and the stars! This is only a sample of our ideas! “Savoir” Magazine
