Hi, you can call me Rio. I am a senior architect with 15 years total experience, with 12 years international experience in complex large-scale projects, including mixeduse, mega-malls, residential, hospitality, and civic projects. Currently employed as a senior design architect, delivering projects from feasibility/masterplan to detail design/tender phases. Palm Jumeirah Hotel Apartments
Dubai, UAE 2015
Palm Jumeirah Hotel Apartments
The Palm Jumeirah Hotel Apartments project intends to be a major architectural landmark on the Palm. The main concept of the layout was to ensure that the maximum amount of rooms/apartments could face the sea. Hence considering the shape and dimensions of the site, the current wave form of the massing was developed. This wave form continued to become the theme of the landscape, creating an undulating ground surface and increased the level of the main Ground Floor entrance, reducing the requirement for a deep basement. The project also features wide balconies that act like exterior rooms for waterfront lifestyle. This mixed-use project located in Ajdan, KSA, is a waterfront development consisting of a G+37 storey residential tower, a connected G+13 mid-rise block, with 4 levels of podium parking, and retail/commercial area on the first two levels on the waterfront facing facade. The main massing concept is to allow all apartments to have visual connection to the sea, hence all rooms are angled and creates a sawtooth-like facade which give the building its identity. The podium block besides will house the parking, also includes a cascading retail area facing the waterfront and a podium roof garden area for its residents. Additional amenities are located on the top of the 13 storey midrise block, that slices through the tower, further giving the tower its unique appearance.

Ghala Heights Hotel and Office
Year: 2018 Scope: Concept Design Company/Directors: Parsons/Mattia Gambardella Team: Ghanem Yousef, Nikola Dakic, Rio Dradjat Personal involvement: - Floor layouts - Facade design - Detail modelling - Sections - Rendering coordination - Presentation diagrams
As a concept proposal in a prominent location in Muscat, the design brief requests for a mixed-use development comprising four and five star hotels with service apartments together with independent offices. The design approach adopted in this initial study is to have an integrated scheme where there is one holistic seamless solution to the overall form and appearance of the building and where each compliments and works well with the other. The proposed design of the two blocks is intended to be bold and accentuating the dynamic form of movement through its form and sweeping canopies. These canopies play a significant role both architecturally and technically in providing the much needed shading to both offices and hotel accommodation.

The proposed design shows two-buildings scheme distinguished by program and accesses creating and inviting and welcoming space for the visitors. The two curved shapes dynamically create a spatial interplay and offer an ever changing visual perception from every view angle. The layered building facade maximizes the use of cantilevering louvers for shade and sun protection. The design refers in its materials to the white washed housing in the Muscat area while reinterpreting the spaces in a contemporary, dynamic language. 52 / LEFT

The Cloud Mosque Dubai Creek Harbour
Mosques are places to connect with the Divine, to pray is to let go of humanly desires and sacrifice time, body and mind to reflect upon life and the afterlife. This mosques attempts to recreate this connection between ephemeral and non-ephemeral, between our physical world and the the divine, between man and God. This mosque, mimics a cloud existing between different states of matter, with a sense of formlessness of randomised collection of millions of translucent crystals, that creates a pure and tranquil space, devoid of earthly distractive elements. The success of The Dubai Mall initiated Emaar to develop an expansion on the opposite side of the boulevard. As there were little space for expansion, DPA conducted a feasibility study on how this idea could be implemented. Several options were put forward by the collaboration of the Dubai and Singapore teams, and eventually one of the schemes was selected and is now being developed for construction.

Located between the Dubai Mall and the Address Hotel Downtown, the Promenade CafĂŠ sits on a previous water feature surrounded by a traffic drop off. Several design options were explored, and eventually a final design that included glass and aluminium elements from the Dubai Mall with the colours and textures of the Address Hotel was implemented in a minimalist massing. The upper level of the CafĂŠ is connected to the existing Hotel link bridge, and general mall vehicular traffic was diverted to create a hi-end drop off feel.

With the completion of the Dubai Canal project, Safa Park was to be reinstated. A proposal by the landscape team was put forward, and the design of a new gate was required. The design of this gate was to portray a more sleek and futuristic elegance to the park, in line with the design of the new contemporary street furniture and pedestrian bridges on the Dubai Canal.
