After more than 20 years of working in styling and creative direction for fashion and commercial clients, Toronto-based Kenneth Koon moved behind the camera in 2008. He has since established himself as an in-demand photographer with a distinctive vision—one that most often finds its expression through his ongoing exploration of the male body. Drawn from the communities of Canadian and American cities, the men that he shoots reflect a mixture of confidence and passion, strength and sensuality, captured in bold images whose technical assurance and dark beauty provide the foundation for their power.
Born in Oakland, California, Benjamin Patterson attended Bishop O’ Dowd High School. He was a 4-year swimmer and played drums in the school band each year. Patterson went on to attend San Diego State University where he was a psychology major. He moved from San Diego to L.A. after winning Male Model Of the Year at I.M.T.A. 2000 (in LA). In 2004, Patterson found himself busy, landing many small theatrical roles. He also landed acting roles in numerous television series and movies such as “Something New,” “Beauty Shop,” “Eve,” and “Days of Our Lives.” He began acting on the LOGO series, “Noah’s Arc” in June of 2005. He began his career as a photographer around 2006, shooting mostly other actor and model friends.
His work has been seen in solo exhibitions in Ottawa and Montreal and group shows in New York City and Toronto. He is currently working on a solo exhibit in Chicago. His work and creative process is the subject of Through the Lens of inkedkenny, a 2012 documentary short by German directors Denize Galiao and Marie Elisa Scheidt. Produced in partnership with the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München and Canada’s L’institut national de l’image et du son, the film has been widely showcased on the European festival circuit.
PHIL LIMPRASERTWONG Philllcom Phil Limprasertwong is a Los Angeles based fashion photographer specializing in men's fashion, editorial, portrait, commercial & lifestyle photography. His passion began with drawing at an early age but later transitioned to photography when he took his first course in college. He graduated from California State University, Northridge in 2015 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art with an emphasis in Photography. Shortly after he was blessed with the opportunity to intern for celebrity fashion photographer, Irvin Rivera aka Graphicsmetropolis, who he is currently working for as First Assistant. Fashion has always been a big influence in his life since he was young so it was only convenient that he fell in love with photography later on. Fashion photography is something that he has always enjoyed because of the endless possibilities of creativity it presents.

Since then, Patterson has been featured in numerous commercials for Gap, Ford, Marshall’s, Pepsi, and Macy’s. He is also currently a recurring role on the hit series “Greys Anatomy”. Having always had a love for music, Patterson also taught himself guitar, bass, and piano and started composing music for his solo project. He independently released his first three projects “Affordable Vacation” and “Psychology” & “Hollywood Summertime” online under his band name “SAPPHIRE SKY”.

PATINA Sam Frankl
Hailed by Billboard as “multi-talented” and described by Wonderland Magazine “one to watch out for”, the Brixton based indie-pop wizard Sam Frankl is pleased to announce details of a brand new emotive, groove-laden track ‘Patina’ due this January. Frankl details the track: “The song is about a couple after a break up. The girl is asking, quasi masochistically, about the boy's new relationship. I don't know if you relate but it's about that odd desire to self-harm emotionally rather than succumb to complete indifference; as though to suffer at someone's hand is preferable to being dismissed by it completely.” Written in Palomino, Columbia during his travels across South America in 2017. Frankl spent his time collecting scraps of songs and lyrics. ‘Patina’, the thin layer or covering that forms on various metals due to oxidisation, became an idea for the song where “the girl is trying to scrape off a top surface to reach some more extreme emotion beneath in the boy”. ‘Patina’ is a breathtakingly soulful record that sees Frankl effortlessly drawing on electronic, soul and modern South American pop influences, resulting in a truly immersive soundscape that juxtapose themes of hope and love over melodic, samba styled rhythms.
An accomplished poet and writer, Frankl’s previous single ‘Gold Rush’ was a poignant social commentary on local housing issues taking the Heygate Estate in Elephant & Castle, a 5 minute walk from his flat, as the basis of it’s inspiration. He goes on to add: “Towards the end of the trip we found a house overlooking the coast on the Palomino river and stayed there for ten days to allow us to catch our breath and for me to finish what I'd been working on. I wrote the song as a samba but always had a clear idea of incorporating more modern dance music elements into the syncopation of the track. The percussive stabs that feature so prominently in the chorus are actually (among other things) layers of the nylon string guitar on which the song was written. I wanted the production to retain something of the provenance of the song even as it became slicker and more contemporary. The original finger pattern even appears, quite briefly, in the first pre-chorus; sort of a fragile tendril attaching the song to its beginnings, I can't hear it without thinking of that house on the river by the coast.”

Montana Colors is supplying spray paint used by artists for murals and installations in the show, but Montana Colors wanted to go one step further and find a way to honor some of the art form’s best from past and present. ARRESTED MOVEMENT Anthony Patrick Manieri
Arrested Movement is an inclusive portrait series and awareness initiative celebrating and promoting positive body image for men by Anthony Patrick Manieri. In recent years, the push to include the issue of body positivity awareness into the mainstream conversation has been acknowledged in the media as a woman’s issue; Manieri believes that it is a human issue. We as a society are bombarded from an early age with what is considered to be beautiful and acceptable through our environment, television, movies, advertising and the dominant juggernaut of social media via our computers and smartphones. All causing negative affects on our self-esteem. Body image is related to self-esteem. “Body image and self-esteem directly influence each other - and your feelings, thoughts, and behaviours. If you don’t like your body (or part of your body), it’s hard to feel good about your whole self. The reverse is also true: if you don’t value yourself, it’s hard to notice the good things and give your body the respect it deserves.” - Canadian Mental Health Association, BC Division What started out as a single photo session consisting of 10-12 men to be showcased in a gallery exhibit, quickly and organically morphed into this movement through social media, which now is allowing Manieri to meet and photograph men in different cities. He listens to their stories and personal struggles that they share, and he reminds them that we’re all the same. This inclusive series focuses on men of all races, from thin to large, Little People to super tall, men with physical disabilities, transgender men, as well as twospirited men. All are welcome. All are beautiful.
Anthony Patrick Manieri is a professional photographer and art director based in Toronto, Canada. He specializes in stylized portraiture and food photography. Anthony hopes that the end result of this project would someway help to shine light on the fact that men, especially men in the LGBTQ community, suffer from body issues and self-acceptance just as much as women, and that men should be included in the narrative; creating a dialogue about loving and accepting ourselves, and help to create a ripple effect in the social consciousness. SOLO Prismo
Having been ensconced in the studio working on his debut album due in 2019, emerging Texan electronic producer Prismo (Zach Burgett) is pleased to announce details of a brand new track ‘Solo' due this summer and forming the first step in a series of new songs set for release throughout the remainder of the year. Zach details the track: “Solo is about freeing myself from unhealthy relationships. A couple years ago I decided that I was done being mistreated by negative and abusive people. In this song I take back control and leave behind those that took advantage of me. "I'm ridin' solo" doesn't mean I want to be alone; it means I want to do what's best for my future. The chorus is basically a battle cry for self-love and self-awareness. After I started looking out for more of my best interests, I narrowed down the real from the fake, and strengthened relationships that were good for me. I hope my fans can connect with this message and remember not only to look out for yourself, but also surround yourself with real people that look out for you.”
In recent time his eclectic sound and resonating top line vocals have captivated hearts across the globe. EXPERIMENT IN FLESH TONE Douglas Coupland
Douglas Coupland’s work examines themes of technological advancement and the effect that this progress has on our environment – both literally and metaphorically. Coupland probes advancement of new technologies by questioning what it means to be existent at this very time; to be living through highly accelerated technological advances, throwaway culture, and mass environmental negligence. All these things make up what Coupland terms the "21st-century condition," something he investigates through the incorporation of readymade consumer objects and digital applications into his work.
Coupland’s work has been displayed in solo exhibitions internationally at galleries including the Saint Petersburg Manege, Villa Stuck in Munich, Daniel Faria Gallery in Toronto, Royal Ontario Museum & Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art in Toronto, Or Gallery in Berlin, and Gallery Speak For in Tokyo. In addition to his solo shows, he has contributed numerous works to group exhibitions at the Audain Art Centre in Vancouver, Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montréal, Whitechapel Gallery in London, La Musee d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, The 6th Beijing International Art Biennale, OCA Museum in Sao Paulo, and Mass Moca in Massachusetts along with many others. Canadian artist, novelist, and cultural theorist Douglas Coupland employs a variety of different materials within his post-medium practice to reflect on the changing cultural landscape. Coupland is highly critical of what he calls “the early 21st century condition,” addressing issues of identity, technology, and pop culture. While alluding to the graphic imagery of artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Piet Mondrian, Andy Warhol, and James Rosenquist, Coupland often uses repetition and patterns as well as everyday materials and objects. He couples the tradition of painting with current technologies, exemplified in his use of QR code within a painting. When observed the piece is both visually stimulating to the viewer and interactive with a smartphone. Coupland’s work, while simple in composition, prompts chaos within the mind of the viewer as he suggests the convergence of world culture and loss of identity due to new media and the internet. Working as a thesis for his work is his statement, Twelve Slogans for the Early TwentyFirst Century, which reads, “It’s Okay to want to stop being an individual,” “The Internet allows you to dream while you’re still awake,” and “A fully linked world no longer needs a MIDDLE CLASS.” These statements along with his use of pop-art depict modernisation and a distillment of identity. Coupland’s work includes practices of painting, installation, photography, quilting, and printing to ultimately probe the way that things, images, and processes of contemporary life affect our reality.

POP CULTURE DYSTOPIA By Filip Hodas Impressed by his daily designs, we interviewed Filip Hodas, a 23-year-old DJ and graphic designer from Prague, on the way that he uses social media, the recent shift in his work, and how younger people can make waves in the digital world while still remaining independent. Not only were we able to inspect his mind-boggling landscapes and sceneries, but we also took a peek into his point of view regarding marketing and brands. You have started impressing the digital world with renderings of futuristic hyper-real landscapes and gathered quite a lot of followers with your daily posts on Facebook. Was this a natural thing – posting daily content – for you or did you use this to attract followers intentionally? I started doing this to get better at 3D and this is still my main goal. Don’t get me wrong, it’s amazing that my images are popular and I absolutely love all the support they get on my social network channels, but I always try to focus on the work itself, rather than its impact on social networks. Often it’s quite hard to not get discouraged when some different look/style doesn’t get much response, but if I like it and feel like it can lead to something cool or it is a good exercise, then I’ll just do a series. Even if the response is really bad. How much control do you hold over where you are featured? And how do you decide what kind of press coverage you’d like to have? Do you actively reach out to them or do they usually come to you? Honestly, I don’t think it’s possible to have much control over these things nowadays. Blogs, magazines, and various pages are sharing, featuring, re-posting stuff every second and only the bigger magazines ask you/inform you about it. I’ve never reached out to anyone and I don’t think I ever will – I’ve always felt that sending my stuff somewhere and asking to be featured, included in interviews, etc. is a kind of “pushy” self-promotion that everyone on the Internet does now and I honestly hate it. I believe that if you work hard enough, sooner or later, people will notice you.
What changes have you noticed recently in the graphic design space? When it comes to 3D graphics, I haven’t noticed any major changes in the last few months. I mostly check out work from people I follow on social networks and the majority of them have quite specific styles, so there aren’t any drastic changes in what I see around me. Software-wise, I am really looking forward to the release of the new version of Octane Render, which will bring several huge improvements to my workflow and will definitely push GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) rendering to a whole new level. What are the options for young artists like you? It is necessary to use Behance and social media (Facebook, Instagram) to be successful? Social networks offer amazing possibilities, especially for freelancers. All of my clients from the past 5-6 months found me via social networks. Of course, people can get immensely successful without ever touching any social networks, but that is going to be harder and harder to “pull off”.

Daniel Fahlstrรถm is a Swedish artist who goes by the name Huge. He makes hyperrealistic mylar balloon art that will trick your eye into thinking you can reach out and grab them. We spoke with Fahlstrรถm about his work and how he is able to make the balloons in his murals look so real. You can see more of his work on his Instagram and YouTube pages. Huge: I'm based in Stockholm, Sweden. And I've been painting graffiti since '87. Nowadays I paint photorealistic mylar balloons style. I was having an exhibition in Stockholm and I came up with the idea, why don't I change the traditional graffiti letters into balloons. I take real balloons to the place where the wall is. And I put them up and take some photos of them. I use photos as a reference. So the reflections you see in the balloons is mostly at the area where the wall is in the background. When I take the pictures, it's a reflection of me there, so there's no hiding. When I do walls I only use spray cans. I can paint some details with my fingers and stuff like that. And when I do smaller canvases and stuff like that, I sometimes use air brushes. The technique comes from a lot of practice I guess. I don't think about it that much, I just paint. Well, I think you have to focus on where you put the details in the paintings. You can trick your eye if you paint say the background more blurry, they stick out more and pop up. The wrinkles are extremely important to paint. I'm trying to do a lot of sculptures. So that includes the balloon style. So I try to make sculptures as balloons also. I really like the photorealistic style. I try to manage to make them as photorealistic as possible. I'm pretty fast when I work, so I can do a mural say about, four times five meters in maybe in two days. Something like that. Say eight hour days. Time flies when you're painting. Like you're in a bubble or something. I have my own firm where I do custom paint. Like painting motorcycles and helmets and tracks and stuff like that. So there's where I get most of my income. It's mostly commission work nowadays. I don't have any murals painted aboard yet, as one request from New York. And a lot from south of the states like Texas and Louisiana. Also Canada and Honduras and Australia. Well, I've seen a lot of reactions from people and the funniest one was when this old lady that wasn't wearing her glasses she was trying to go up and touch the balloons. And a lot of people do that. They go by and, "Well, I have to check that out." That's good if they think that's real balloons. That's my mission, to make them believe that. FLIEPAPER Don Flood
Celebrity photographer and designer Don Flood launched his first collection of FLIEPAPER, art photography wallcoverings produced by Astek Wallcoverings, in late 2014, and followed that with the Palm Springs collection earlier this year. The designs have appeared in environments as varied as a high-end cafĂŠ in Santa Monica to a private elevator in a Redondo Beach luxury home. Now Flood is debuting his newest line, called BIGS, in Booth 2560 at ICFF beginning on May 14. Taking inspiration from the single-image wallcoverings of 1960s and 1970s interiors, Flood devised a proprietary process for shooting the subject in ultra high resolution and at very close range, then having them printed on a variety of wallcovering materials, including mylar. The results lend themselves to nearly any interior application, from residential living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms to commercial environments such as restaurants, office lobbies, and hotel public areas. Among the images in the BIGS collection are amethysts, minerals, crystals, sea coral, abalone, roses, sunflowers and butterflies. "We are very excited by what Don has created in BIGS," said Aaron Kirsch, founder and CEO of Astek. "FLIEPAPER has proven popular with retail customers as well as interior designers, art directors and architects because of its innovative use of highly artistic, high resolution images of beautiful things combined with the practical applications allowed by the material itself. "When single image installations were in vogue some decades ago, the subject matter was usually a sunset or treescape, and the resolution was incredibly low," notes Flood. "Inspired by an interiors shot I came across from the late '60's, I began to experiment with various images at extremely high resolution. Given the printing technology and materials available to us today, BIGS became a reality very quickly. Born out of meeting ceramists in Oaxaca working the black clay, Mezcalienne and The Shrouds are two series imagined in Mexico for Maison Marcoux Mexico. Mezcalienne is a collection playing with traditional shapes to propose original assemblages. The seven sculptural vases are closed by a round piece, coming from the cut of a traditional mezcal bottle. The Shrouds gathers two projects: Sombrero, a table defying balance and technique, and Penacho, a carafe inspired by the dances of San Bartolo.In partnership with Design Week Mexico, exhibition at the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico until October 28 2018. BAJA Travel Diary By Rose Cefalu
A weekend in Cabo used to mean shots of tequila and buying blankets on the beach but todays Southern Baja California is chock full of luxury resorts, unique experiences, and a burgeoning art scene in picturesque village of Todos Santos. I could spend a month exploring this awesome landscape of ocean meets desert. Follow us for a week as we explore the coolest things happening. DAY 1 SAN JOSE DEL CABO
We hopped in our car with little hassle and drove to a farm in the foothills of San Jose del Cabo, Acre, a oasis of a resort I happened upon on Instagram they have a beautifully curated IG that makes you want to go deeper and go there. Upon arriving you are on a path through a lush tropical sanctuary to the beautiful distinctive architectural entrance. Ivan a very cool concierge with a handlebar mustache greeted us. He was very happy to hand me a beautiful called cocktail called Reina de la Baja: Aperol & Sparkling wine, Orange & Lime juice topped with Damiana tincture. From the open air bar Ivan walked us around the 25 acres of paradise, which includes a incredible farm to table restaurant, a stunning pool area, ping pong, fire pit, event space, a 7 month old donkey named Burrito, a peacock named Chucky, and our very own unique lodging the Treehouse. These stunning structures are about 2 stories high above the treetops and absolutely charm you start the climb. It’s a modern adventure with all the luxury amenities you could want. The breeze in the treetops, beautiful linens, fresh organic fruit, hand crafted robes, outdoor shower, yet modern indoor bathroom and closets and stunning patio. They had me at hello. We soaked up the ambience and changed and went to the Moroccan tiled pool to watch the sunset and find Burrito (the donkey) eating freshly fallen mangos from the grove. What a life! After a beautiful swim in the balmy September weather we headed to the town of San Jose Del Cabo, where ae had a excellent dinner at El Herradero, they served my Baja Shrimp piping hot in a lava bowl called a Mocjate with fresh handmade tortillas. Back at Acre we stopped in for a after dinner drink That included Acres own small-batch mezcal, In the breezy outdoor bar where beverage director Dani Tatarin has built an impressive menu of mezcal-forward cocktails we sipped a “Acres Martinez: Mezcal, sweet vermouth, house cherry Liquer & bitters. We arrived on a short 2 hour 10 minute flight from LA to sunny and balmy San Jose Del Cabo, a shuttle met us at the gate to take us to our rental car, we rented from ten car rental, it was a easy experience, on arrival we were handed two beers right before we rented the car, pretty funny but we are in Mexico. (Side note: just about everyone in Mexico has a side hustle and getting you to go listen to a time share opportunity, they will offer you breakfast, adventures and even cash to go and see a “Fractional ownership. ElHerraderoLosCabos.com DAY 2 SAN JOSE DEL CABO We got up early to attend the yoga by the pool and it was perfection. A good stretch and sweat in the balmy late summer air and off to a two courses breakfast at the Acre restaurant FRUITS OF THE DAY with honey, flowers, and baja herbs followed by FRENCH TOAST on brioche, strawberry jam, maple syrup and pecans. This farm to table restaurant serves only local ingredients. Delish. Curious about all the luxury resorts going in the 20-mile stretch between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas including the Viceroy, Montage and the 3 year old Cape Hotel we stopped in to see the allure. The Cape (part of The Thompson Hotel Group) has a striking entrance, a perfect view of the Arch of Cabo San Lucas and a unexpected Mexican modern chic to it. I was greeted by Raquel, the marketing director and Mexican local who described all the hotel amenities and the incredible Mexican architects Javier Sánchez and Benedikt Fahlbusch and Interior Designer Marisabel Gómez Vázquez who put their passion into creating the beautiful resort It's the super sexy place to relax and be seen.
After dark we return to the tree house at Acre, and get ready for our dinner reservation at the renowned restaurant. Chef Kevin Luzande’s food is a marriage of global influences and local ingredients that evolves with the seasons. We feasted on Kumiai Oysters from Todos Santos, Tataki Catch of the day and Charred Octopus, followed by mango sorbet and Spiced Abuelita’s Hot Chocolate Cake what a delight and a meal to remember. Then we decided to go for a swim looking for a local’s beach we happen upon Chileno Beach, this beautiful stretch of sand between two resorts. An uncrowded free parking lot, and great amenities, I see why locals would want to keep this place a secret. Although the sunset was behind us, we jumped the waves of the Sea of Cortez and collected shells on the beach. Swim days are paradise. An insider’s tip says: During whale season, take a moment to hold your head underwater and just listen. You may be rewarded with the sweet singing of a humpback whale.

Back to our tree house high above the dense tropical foliage we watched the sun quickly DAY 3 MARINA SAN JOSE DEL CABO Perfect morning at Acre and I roam the property searching for Burrito and Chucky to say my good byes and looking forward to coming back to Acre sooner than later. We opt for some adventure today and hop on over to Cactus Atv tours for some dirty fun. Great for family and friends in a super organized trail ride where you follow the leader, at the end I was ready for another ride. This is an awesome group event and good for kids too. Can’t wait to do another one. They also offer many adventures like a camel ride, horseback and catamaran tours. We head back to San Jose del Cabo marina, Los Cabos area to stay at the super cool and artsy El Ganzo. Nothing else quite like this place, It’s a place that celebrates diversity, creativity, artistry and sustainability. It’s a place where individual expression reins, and you can indulge. We are greeted by the welcoming staff and shown to our master suite with marina views. I am amazed by all the art on arrival. Great pieces throughout the lobby and in the halls on the way to our room. Our room unique on its own has an Octopus drawn and painted on the wall by Francisco Munoz. I am inspired just walking to the room. We go up to the roof top pool and just amazed by the views. A wrap around infinity pool with a stand-alone jacuzzi fish tank above. Just incredible, we watch the sun set from the water and just enjoy the float, the swim, and skies color. Before we knew, it was 10:00pm and we opted for a night in and room service which was quick and delicious, complimentary beers in the fridge, late night conversations about art in the softest robes and biggest bed. DAY 5 ROAD TRIPPING We head out to explore the East Cape, a destination in itself for fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling. Up Hwy 1 and break off to Camino Cabo Este, which then turns into a dirt road (I highly recommend a SUV for driving on these roads) we are off the beaten path to see the East Cape we head south for another 32 KM on a dirt road. Finally to the national marine park Cabo Pulmo, we see the hustle of diving and scuba trips, ATV’s and fishing

We awake and walk around the hotel and marina, the staff give me a tour of the incredible art from artists like Pedro Reyes, Nicolás Bedel, and Scarlett Baily and a tour of the incredible “Underground recording studio” below the lobby bar, Part of the El Ganzo sessions and concert series. Rumor has it Slash has recorded there along with the Rayland Baxter, Allen Stone, Stephane Wrembel and Thievery Corporation. This hotel is a mecca for all who love art, this morning we star trooper at the rooftop pool in the daylight and enjoy a breakfast at Ganzo downstairs. Then we were off to the pontoon boat to take up to the beach club to enjoy some afternoon sun across the lagoon. This place is just incredible

tours, we end up spending some time at the secluded beach and pop in the water for a little snorkel time. The Beautiful waters with a rich marine life. Just before sunset we head out to meet up with friend in Todos Santos DAY 6 TODOS SANTOS We wake up to the gentle crashing of the waves nearby and we are in a beautiful 3-bedroom 2.5 bath villa called Casa Califia by the Amigo Brothers, we are on our own private gated property with lush palm trees and garden in the front. We head out with our friends to the cutest little town you have ever seen, Todos Santos, colorful flagged lines streets with local artisans handcrafting their wares. The town is expat friendly with a rich community of full time Americans and Canadians. We have an amazing buffet breakfast at La Generala and do a little shopping in town. Just a short 10 minutes south to Cerritos/Pescadero Beach which has great swimming on the pacific side. We rent and umbrella chairs and boogie boards from Mario for about 20 bucks. Cerritos/Pescadero Beach is also a surfers haven and an awesome little beach community. Most of the day is spent trying to catch waves and we get massages, right there on the beach. We hear the best tacos in town are a short walk away at a taco truck call Barracuda, his place does not disappoint. In fact I think we went at least 3 times on this trip, don’t miss this one. A morning walk on the beach headed south we ran into the folks at Tortugueres la Playitas, a local rescue organization that’s helps preserve and aid in the release of these gentle creatures back to the ocean. We head to yoga at the nearby neighbors Pachamama followed by coffee in town at La Esquina. I am super excited for lunch near the beach, a place I have been looking forward to going Hierbabuena. Tere was a sustainable farm to table restaurant right in the middle of the farm. This experience does not disappoint, absolutely delicious. Basically our waiter tends to the garden when he is not serving. This is a place you can’t miss. I am sad to leave Todos Santos and head back to the airport. He has been active in the photography world for over thirty years, serving as a trustee of the International Center of Photography, New York, and a member of the acquisitions committee of the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, and the Norton Museum, West Palm Beach. Daniel Kramer’s classic Bob Dylan portfolio captures the artist’s transformative “big bang” year of 1964–65. Over the course of a year and a day, Kramer’s extraordinary access to Bob Dylan on tour, in concert, and backstage, allowed for one of the most mesmerizing photographic portfolios of any recording artist and a stunning document of Dylan breaking through to superstardom. Highlights include the Lincoln Center’s Philharmonic Hall concert with Joan Baez; the Bringing It All Back Home recording sessions; and the now-famous concert at Forest Hills, when Dylan’s controversial transition to electric guitar exemplified his constant, cryptic state of becoming. As much a document of a seminal period of rock ’n’ roll history as of Dylan himself, the pictures also feature such compelling friends and collaborators as Joan Baez, Johnny Cash, Allen Ginsberg, and Albert Grossman. Daniel Kramer is a photographer and filmmaker whose portraits and picture stories have been published worldwide; his film work encompasses documentaries and commercials. But it is his photographs of Bob Dylan, the first major work published about the young artist on his way from superstar to icon during 1964 and 1965, which catapulted Kramer’s work onto the international stage.
