horizon coach Lines is one of the largest bus companies in north america. they own 1,100 vehicles and have over 20 offices and facilities scattered across the united states and canada. When horizon coach Lines purchased coach america, they wanted to create a consistent look for its buses by designing something simple, eye-catching and cost effective. freshening up the horizon logo and brand was also a priority. for the bus design, i purchased a vehicle template and drafted some samples in adobe illustrator. once the design was approved, i worked with a local printer to make sure all the measurements were accurate (sometimes template measurments can be wrong). the new logo incorporated the bus design, but changed slightly to make it easier to work with for printing projects with embroidery and a small print space.

Gray Line of Seattle (GLS) is a tour and charter company purchased by TMS and branded as part of Horizon Coach Lines. With the purchase of GLS, Horizon acquired double decker buses in Seattle, Victoria and Vancouver. Some of the older models of the double-decker buses in Victoria didn’t have purchasable design templates, so I created templates from scratch by tracing photographs of the buses and working with a printing company in Vancouver to get measurements. The client wanted a “British Look” for the buses hence the Union Jack flag stretched across the bottom. With the design of the new GLS website came more design opportunities. The website, designed by Fabatron, showcased new colors, light swirls and city cityscape that I incorporated into new brochures. To showcase the reputable Gray Line name, I created a logo with the text “The Original Sightseeing Company.”

We begin with a scenic coach ride to Mount Rainier National Park. On our way, we’ll linger at several scenic lookout points and gaze at the natural wonders – crashing waterfalls, diverse plant life, and the snowcapped summit. You will be given an opportunity to purchase lunch on your own either in the new Visitor’s Center, or in the newly renovated Historic Paradise Lodge restaurant. In the late afternoon, we’ll follow a different route back to Seattle, taking in even more incredible scenery.

Dance Jam Productions

11

Dance Jam Productions is truly a company that does it all. It hosts dance events, provides event rentals such as floors and lights and runs weekly swing dance events in the DC area. Dave Moldover, owner, bought the rights to host two dance events in the area, and he wanted new logos and identities for each. He also commissioned a new logo for his parent company, Dance Jam Productions, that is stenciled on his equipment and vehicles. For each dance event logo, Molder had a special request: keep all the logos in the shape of a perfect square so they would easily fit into a Facebook profile picture. He also wanted to make sure the logo designs were simple enough for sketching on awards. All event logos have been projected, stenciled on objects and vehicles, sketched on awards and more. Other projects have stemmed from the logos to include flyers, ads, schedules and program guides for each dance event.
