PADD E N RESIDENCE

The Padden Residence is a custom home in West Vail, Colorado. The homeowners, based in Houston, TX, wanted a home to host their friends and family for ski vacations and later to retire in the aspen groves. With Oklahoma brownstone, hip skipped and rough sawn European white oak floors, walnut and cherry cabinetry, and exotic stone slabs, the design of this home brings all the natural elements of the mountains that their family love. The furniture was selected alongside the interior finishes to create a carefully curated home.

S NOWB E R R Y DUPLEX

Located in Vail Valley, this new construction duplex is designed as the perfect single family home or resort retreat. With the East Residence keeping more warm and organic tones, the West Residence of the duplex added edgy light fixtures and mixed metals for a unique look from its neighbor. Both homes offer an open main level floor plan, five spacious bedrooms, including a master suite, top of the line appliances, a wet bar, and one-of-a-kind uniquely designed bathrooms. Both homes demonstrate a supreme attention to detail and expert craftsmanship.

Located on a hillside within the Vail Valley, this home boasted tremendous south views of the Sawatch and New York Mountain range which influenced our material selection and spatial design. Our design team worked on a tight budget while developing a safe, unique, and relevant mountain modern aesthetic. With European white oak flooring, walnut cabinetry, quartzite counter tops, natural stone, and modern light fixtures, this home was a blend of organic elements with luxe style. This residence was such a hit it sold prior to completion of construction and final CO.

N E W YO RK NEW ERA

A complete renovation of this large office space provided a blank slate to create New Era Cap’s upscale New York base. Being the meeting point for their highest clientele and executives this space was designed to be a comfortable workspace and a luxe studio. With a twist on their company wide display cases our team added an industrial, yet residential feel to their space. Warm wood mixed with polished silvers and graphic murals created a space rich in textures and colors.

A modern renovation of a second story converted office space has provided the Chicago New Era Cap team with a welcoming and comfortable environment to deliver their product to the home of sports. While on a tight budget, our team kept the bones of the office while adding unique flare and gathering points.

DEMONSTRATION GARDEN Going through multiple DAR meetings with the City of Portland, our team finally developed a plan that met the cities goals for the reconstruction of the Lloyd West Plaza. Constructed simultaneously with the West Anchor, the plaza is situated at the intersection NE Multnomah Street and NE 9th Avenue. With the West Anchor being future leased as a concert venue, our team developed the plaza to withhold large groups of people and allow for outdoor flexibility and events. With an elliptical form that creates small areas for respite and a large central gathering place.

THE BEACH EDITION We worked with Crystal Lagoons to create a standard lagoon ‘product’ or beach club to replace big boxes that are closing across the nation. Through this process we further developed two videos that created the feel and explained the details of what creates a Crystal Lagoon and the Beach Edition’s so unique.

FIRST COAST In re-developing the three primary public spaces of the outdoor shopping center, St. Johns Town Center, our team worked to create designs that kept the publics favorite amenities while modernizing and opening up the spaces. In doing this our team faced challenging geometries and existing conditions, but worked to create a unique fabric and blended environment that carried itself throughout the project. These concepts were happily received and are moving into further development.

THE SOURCE Downtown Silver Spring is the Source, a rooted and vibrant community that fuses the urban environment with the suburban neighborhood. Already serving as a hub, gathering place, shopping and entertainment center, we worked to bring back the personality to the experience. An evolution from what we know to what is unexpected and surprising. In re-visioning Ellsworth Drive we aimed to create a more dynamic streetscape and urban plaza that slows traffic and encourages walkability. Coupled with the vision book I developed a video using stock imagery to provide a emotive feel for the space and idea.

EROSION, LIGHT, STRIATION Given a narrow alley way in Berkeley, California we were instructed to conceptually design a small art gallery with a specified program. Upon visitation to the site location, I immediately felt a sense on enclosure and desire to climb to the surface. Inspired by natural canyons created by the flow of water passing through ancient rock, this space encompasses three main themes, erosion, light, and striation.

Simplifying the shape of the corkscrew, this drawing demonstrates the movement and rotation of an object through space. While, advanced scaled drafting on an industrial object, in this case an Ikea brand wine and bottle opener. Using these drawings one is to understand the form of the object and well as it’s mechanical operations that operate in conjunction with one another. This project was archived within the College of the Environment at UC Berkeley for exemplary student work.
