Exhibition Statement My experience of parenthood is tied to a quiet mourning of the past iterations of my growing daughter. Right now, change is routine for us. Clothing, shoes and other objects are constantly becoming obsolete. Every day the child from the previous day has been replaced with someone new. The day I installed this exhibit, I measured my daughter’s height. She was 29 ž inches tall. I painted the gallery walls up to this height to match the color of her bedroom. The works displayed within this newly defined exhibition space were made by dipping her outgrown clothing, shoes and pacifier in that same paint. This work critically considers sentimentality and the rationality of preservation.
