Improved contextual relationships and the infusion of economic activity is facilitated through the addition of two new through-streets that allow for the development of mixedincome housing, institutional expansion, and commercial activity. The final design derives from the initial development of an innovative and efficient integrated building system. This becomes the primary vehicle for the building design and site strategy, rather than programmatic needs.

78-11 Kew Forest Lane, No. 2db, Forest Hills, New York, 11375 Urban Typologies: Stacked Duplex Housing Boston, MA | Spring 2010 The goal of this design exercise is to incorporates 4 distinct units over a 40’ x 60’ parcel. While duplex units are typically stacked above one another, this proposal takes advantage of an “L-shaped” section to accommodate circulation requirements and organize program spaces within the unit. To reach the top units, one enters through a thick central core. This zone houses the circulation and service spaces for each unit and modulates the living spaces within. Building Components
