An Extraordinary Opportunity As a finale to the Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra Association’s 60th anniversary year, the Symphony presents a special auction of extraordinary, one-of-a-kind items for you to enjoy, and also lend a hand in celebrating the symphony on reaching its 60-year milestone. In this special 20122013 season led off by the legendary and award-winning pianist, André Watts, and culminating with the symphony’s performance of Mahler’s Resurrection, in collaboration with the Santa Barbara Choral Society on May 18 and 19th, we are offering paintings by local artists, fine jewelry and even an experience in Florence, Italy, attending a performance of an original ballet with the orchestra under the baton of our own Maestro, Nir Kabaretti. The auction begins on Friday, April 12 and ends at 5PM on Monday, May 13th. You may e-mail your bids or phone them in. So please have fun bidding, knowing that your bids will help to allow the Santa Barbara Symphony to continue to provide the excellent concerts to which we have become accustomed and its numerous music education programs to Santa Barbara County schools. 60th Anniversary Celebration Auction Rules 1) All auction items will be available for bid beginning Friday April 12, 2013 at 5 p.m. and ending Monday May 13, 2013 at 5 p.m. After the auction closes at 5 p.m. on Monday May 13, 2013, winning bids will be identified and winners will be notified by telephone beginning Tuesday May 14, 2013. 2) Bids may be placed in two ways: a) By e-mail to thesbsymphony@gmail.com – Please include your name, telephone number to contact you during and after the auction, identify the item(s) you are bidding on, specify whether you want your bid(s) to be anonymous, and your bid amount(s). All e-mailed bids will be acknowledged with a confirming return e-mail. b) By telephone to (805) 880-6931. There are no exchanges or refunds unless specifically stated in the Auction Brochure and the website description listing of the item. 6) All items are offered and sold “as is.” The Santa Barbara Symphony has attempted to describe items correctly, using the information provided by donors. Bidders will be expected to inspect, obtain, read, comply with, or agree to all relevant warranties and “fine print” concerning any restrictions, exclusions, limitations, warranties, waivers, releases, etc. The Santa Barbara Symphony undertakes no responsibility to purchasers for any defect in, failure of, problem with, or misrepresentation about any auction item. 7) Minimum bid increments will be set for each item and only bids of at least the minimum increment will be considered valid. Items have not been appraised unless specifically represented as appraised and, in such instances, the appraisal is the responsibility of the appraiser, not the Santa Barbara Symphony. The amount you pay above this fair market value estimate is normally tax deductible as a charitable contribution. Please consult your tax advisor to confirm what amount you may claim for a deduction. The Santa Barbara Symphony makes no representations, promises, or warranties concerning the fair market value of any item offered in this auction. 9) Payment for items at the accepted bid amount is due in full within five business days of the close of the auction on May 13th, which is May 20, 2013 at 5:00 p.m., or the next highest bidder will be contacted for a purchase opportunity. We accept cash, MasterCard, Visa, or check payable to the “Santa Barbara Symphony.” 10) Every effort has been and will be made to ensure that this auction is administered fairly and in accord with these rules. In the event of a dispute, the authority to resolve the dispute rests with the Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra Association.
