Reach for the STARS! For Teens going into grades 7 to 12. June 4th to August 10th Sign up at any branch of the library beginning June 4th. You’ll get a free book just for signing up! And if you read just 10 books by Friday, August 10th you’ll earn prizes and receive an invitation to our teen party on Friday, August 17th. Plus you’ll be entered into a drawing for big prizes.

Farewell to Manzanar Book Discussion

Manor offers free Children’s activities, events, and programs designed to entertain, educate, and inspire. Due to popular demand, attendance at will be limited on a first come, first served basis. Dream Big 2012 • Corny Crow Library Show Saturday, June 9 ∙ 10:30am Ventriloquist Steve Chaney and his buddy Corny Crow present a hilarious, interactive show!

Oakland Zoo’s Zoomobile Wednesday, June 20 ∙ 11:00am - 12:00pm The Oakland Zoo’s Zoomobile arrives at Manor with plenty of small animal friends that children can see, touch, and learn about.

Music, Movement and Me Saturday, July 21 ∙ 10:30am Join the fun by moving and dancing to age-appropriate music!

and Sushi-Making Demonstration Thursday, June 28 • 2:00pm - 3:00pm Join other teens in a discussion of this book about Japanese internment camps. A hands-on sushi-making demonstration will follow.

Paper Crane Marathon

Preschool Storytimes

Tuesday, July 31 • 1:00pm - 4:00pm Learn origami and help us make a thousand paper cranes that will be displayed at the library. Japanese snacks served.

Thursdays, 10:30am - 11:15am Designed for children ages 3-8, our preschool storytimes feature the best in children’s books, songs, and arts and crafts activities. This program is for children and a caregiver, to help children get ready for kindergarten, get the reading habit, and to have fun! No registration required, just drop in!

Babysitting Workshop

• Ages 11 - 14 Tuesday, June 26, 2:00pm - 3:30pm $5 registration fee Mrs. Lee from the Eden Medical Center will teach you babysitting basics, including how to diaper, feed and burp babies, and administer minor first aid.

Intro to Digital Art Session 1: July 16-20, 1:00pm - 3:00pm Session 2: July 23-27, 1:00pm - 3:00pm $10 materials fee Take your first step toward a career in graphic design. A teen volunteer will teach basic drawing skills and coloring techniques using Photoshop Elements software. Participants should have basic computer skills.

CSI: San Leandro Thursday, August 2 • 2:00pm - 4:00pm Join the library’s CSI team for a day. Catch a thief using fingerprints and solve other mysteries.

Tuesday, August 7 ∙ 2:00pm - 3:00pm There will be lots of fun games and arts & crafts activities celebrating dreams and imagination!


For Teens going into grades 9 to 12 Volunteer at the Library to earn community service hours and get work experience. Applicants must attend a teen volunteer orientation in May. Applications are available beginning Monday, April 9 and are due Friday, May 11. Call 577-3957 for information.

Teen Activities Teen Gaming Program Saturday, June 30 2:00pm - 4:00pm Hang out with your friends and play with our gaming equipment. We have PS2, Wii, and Xbox 360 Kinect games!
