The Brief was to create a spectacular home which encapsulated the expansive 360 degree mountain and vegitation views. Though views out were paramount this needed to be carefully balanced with the required privacy from within. The living areas were to be open plan – enhancing everyday life. “The architecture needed focus on creating a contemporary, uncluttered and sculptural building.

S.M.A.R.T HOUSING ( VERTICAL FOREST ) Location : Marunji , Pune , Maharashtra Type : Residential, Housing Mentor : Prof. R.T Golgera,B-Arch,M-Arch fourth Year Studio 2016

NORTH ELEVATION

URBAN | HOUSING | RESITENTIAL | PUBLIC

Vertical Forest is a model for a sustainable residential building, a project for metropolitan reforestation contributing to the regeneration of the environment and urban biodiversity without the implication of expanding the city upon the territory. It is a model of vertical densification of nature within the city that operates in relation to policies for reforestation and naturalization of large urban and metropolitan borders.

Site analysis

6 M WIDE ROAD

SITE TOTAL AREA 42056 SQM

The site is placed adjecent to wakad, One of the busiest location on the Munbai-pune Expressway and of the site potential rgely depends on the quality and balance of the land-water interface, So intrumental in the growth and development of a place and its identity. The main assets observed are rapid development in area due to rise in commercial and institutional sectors in recent times, enhanced by the quality of the nature and the availability of proper services, Such factors Avail oppurtunity for Residential projects to balance the overall development in the region.

Conceptual approach (vertical forest) The vertical forest has trees and plants to absorb carbon dioxide and suspended particulate matter, which helps in reducing smog while creating a buffer to dampen the noice pollution, and are belived to lessen the heating effect around the building and in the area nearby because of transpiration from the trees and plants thus providing a cool environment upto an extent which translates to lesser energy consumption. A single building can be benficial for the surrounding area, and in the current scenario where demands for space is growing, this can be a healthy compromise between sustainability and productivity.

_vertical development needs, spaces for interaction wth nature _visual connectivity and interaction are the most important aspects in design

The design of the building is restrained and volumetrically adapted to the general layout of the site in terms of maximum height and alignment. And it is intended to clearly differentiate the sports and teaching areas in terms of volume and facade material. The fundamental element of the project is a large triangle openings on roof , filtered and controlled, entering into a spatial relationship with the main square of the campus.

Site analysis Dehra-dun is the capital city of himalayan state Uttarakhand. Dehra-dun is famous for its picturesque landscape and pleasent climate and provide a gateway to the surrounding region. the district is bordered by the himalayan range to the north, the Shivaliks to the south the Ganges to the east and the Yamuna river to the west. • The site is easily accessible from different parts of the city. • Heavy rainfall and high humidity. Existing lawn tennis , basketball and volleyball court will encourage more people to indulge in sports activities. • Dehra-dun comes under zone IV (highly damage risk zone) as per earth-quake hazard zoning of India, thus cross bracing should be done to the structure. • The city has havy rainfall so rain water harvesting can be done. • The precipitation is high so we need to use materials to control it for maintaining body comfort.

Conceptual approach (hexagon) The roof of structure has patterns of hrxagon and in it has geometry of triangle pannels and sky lights openings. The geometry of hexagon helps in the rtuctural system of the building roof. RADIAL DESIGN PLANNING Incoporating radial design planning the sports complex to maximise the space and propely orient the building on the site.

Compact design of the structure, the shaded area(reduce the use of artificial ventilation and light) combined with natural daylights openings, the use of rain water harvesting helps the complex save water and roof intrgrated solar panels not only will reduce the fossil energy consumption of the complex but also give the chance to supply the city with lest over power

Conceptual details A space frame is a long spanning three dimensional plate structure based on the rigidity of the triangle and composed of linear elements subject only to axial tension or compression. The simplest spatial unit of a space frame is a tetrahedron having four joints and six structural member. Spaceframe Chassis The Spaceframe chassis uses numerous cut and shaped pieces of structural metal tubing (usually steel) joined together to form a strong framework. The diagram shown from Ron Champion’s book “Build Your Own Sports Car For As Little As £100”, shows an example of a space frame chassis. This kind of technique can be used in our project to make frame for roof.

WORKSHOPS Location : pune and satara In year 2014 and 2016

Bottel woskshop The workshop was arranged by Ar. Prasanna More, for the onsite construction of feature wall and seating space which ware made completly out of glass bottles.

35

Ferocement workshop The workshop was arranged by Nandkumar shankarrao Jadhav

The client being a ferrocement contractor had an idea of a farm house completly constructed in ferocement, but what made this idea innovative is ites coupling with the conventional design. The design of the farm house is conventional in looks and not like other ferrocement house which have curved wall or roof. The design in looks is just like RCC design home, but what makes it innovative is the technology of ferrocement.
