Chicago downtown and Chicago River at night.

 BY NORA HESTON TARTE Located on the Southwestern shores of Lake Michigan, Chicago is known for its deep-dish pizza, abundance of museums, peculiar bean-shaped monument, and proximity to several bodies of water. A November vacation to the windy city will see plenty of snow and wintery activities (like ice skating), as well as a slew of holiday events. Give in to the attractions that draw tourists in, without passing up the lure locals love. The Great Chicago Fire of 1871 turned Chicagoland into a city of new architecture, and ultimately a series of neighborhoods as opposed to one all-encompassing metropolis, but amongst the divides provided by the grid-style streets, there’s glamour to be found in Chi-Town, making the Second City, second to none.
