LOHENGRIN R I CH A R D WAGNER
This romantic, fairy-tale epic features some of the composer’s most lyrical and accessible music—it’s Wagner for everyone!
The prayers of a young noblewoman, falsely accused of murdering her brother, are answered in the form of a gallant knight in this transcendent tale of human frailty and divine intervention. Brandon Jovanovich, “a first-rate Wagner tenor” (San Francisco Chronicle) who was an electrifying Siegmund in San Francisco Opera’s Die Walküre (2011), sings the title role. Portraying his doubt-plagued new wife is Camilla Nylund, a “sensuous, ethereal Elsa, her substantial, creamy soprano soaring powerfully in ensembles” (Opera News). Daniel Slater’s “thoughtful and tasteful” production (Associated Press) also features veteran Wagnerians Kristinn Sigmundsson, Gerd Grochowski and Petra Lang. Music Director Nicola Luisotti conducts his first Wagner opera for the Company.
