Strange things may happen when you look in a mirror after an operation‌

An Unusual Day By Brisa, Lila and Josefina (J5me)

That Friday… …I took the bus to go to school, like every morning. It was a rainy day and the streets were very wet. It was a normal journey,

until

overturned.

It

the was

bus a

horrible accident, a lot of people were hurt and others were dead. I really don’t remember a lot about the accident because it happened really fast. The only thing that I can remember is that when I opened my eyes, I was at the hospital. I needed an operation; it was a difficult operation because it took many hours. I woke up after the operation and looked in the mirror of my room. I was scared because I didn’t know what the doctors had done to me, and I realized that I didn’t have my left arm. I was shocked and I started crying, I didn’t know how to live without an arm because I do fencing. Now I have a prosthesis and I can do my favourite sport normally.

Benja the Ugliest Man By Benjamín and Caterina (J5me)

I had always wanted to be a model, but the companies didn’t want me,

and

my

family

and

friends didn’t support me. They used to think that I was very ugly. One day, I was driving to my house and, suddenly, I got distracted by a message and crashed

into

a

tree.

An

ambulance arrived and took me to the hospital. I don’t remember what else happened. I woke up after the operation and looked in the mirror; I saw that my face was completely different. I was handsome! Finally, I was able to make my dream come true! Now I work for Calvin Klein, Gucci and Versace. Everything happens for a reason!

When Everything Was Fine By Maite and Franco (J5me)

It was a nice day, I woke up feeling very happy, and I saw it was a beautiful day to go to the park. So I called my best friend Susy, and she accepted to go to the park. I picked her up. We went to Saavedra’s park, we ate food and we had a very nice day. We spent the day playing volleyball and watching birds, Susy loves them. When it got dark, we put all our things in the car, and I left her at her home. When it was difficult to see, I started to drive more slowly, but I didn’t see the car, so I crashed it. That was the last thing that I remember. I woke up after the operation and I looked in the mirror. I was horrified.

Just in Time By Micaela and Belén (J5me)

“Perfect” by Ed Sheeran was on the radio, it was a sunny day, my friend Hannah was driving and I was on the co-pilot seat, we were chatting and laughing when a truck came out

of

nowhere.

Just

a

moment before the impact, I woke up. I looked at the clock. I was ten minutes late for

my

appointment.

I

rushed out of the bed, my clothes were everywhere and my dog was playing with my shoes. I grabbed my keys and I ran to the bus stop, the clock was ticking away and the traffic seemed to never end. After ten minutes I arrived at my doctor’s office, just in time, Dr. Kevinsky had been operating all day long and was about to go home. He received me, gave me some medicine and let me go. I went to Hannah’s house and I told her my dream. We started to laugh and something really strange happened, Max (another friend) came in a look of panic was on his face; he told us: “I have just come from the hospital and both of you at the ICU because of the car accident you have had.”

The Operation By Valentino (J5me)

I woke up after the operation and looked in the mirror. It was horrible. I couldn’t recognize myself.

Immediately,

I

remembered how I had ended up there. In 2003, I went on holiday with my family to Libya. It was supposed to be our best trip

ever.

Everything

was

perfect. The hotel was the biggest and the most popular one. Its food was delicious; I really loved it. Every night there was a party in the hotel. Every afternoon we were at the beach. We went there by car because it wasn’t close to the hotel. One day we overslept and we had to do everything faster than we were used to. We were arriving at the beach and, suddenly, a very drunk driver crashed into the front of our car. Everything turned into darkness. I wasn’t conscious, but probably somebody called the cops and the ambulance. The next thing that I remembered was being at the hospital and the doctors telling me that they had to operate on my chest.
