Feed the Funnel

Feed the Funnel Together We Can End Hunger

San Angelo is such a caring and giving community. In 2010 that caring spirit created the Tom Green County Hunger Coalition, which has instituted many successful programs, including Kids Eat Free and the Blessing Boxes These programs are excellent examples of our mission to coordinate hunger relief efforts in Tom Green County by facilitating programs that address the issue of hunger for today, tomorrow, and a lifetime.

Join us for our next big project—the Feed the Funnel party—we need your help!! The Coalition is partnering with The Pack Shack and Atmos Energy on September 22, 2022, at Southland Baptist Church at 4300 Meadowcreek Trail from 1-3 pm for a project to help alleviate food insecurity in our region. For this Hunger Action Month event, we will be packing 50,000 meals of Louisiana Red Beans and Rice in 2 hours and will need 150-180 volunteers to accomplish this task. These meals will be packed assembly-line fashion and distributed in a pep-rally like celebration to the cooperating area pantries to give to those experiencing food insecurity. Food insecurity is the lack of access, at times, to enough food for an active, healthy life. In Tom Green County alone, one in 5 children are food insecure, and overall, our food insecure population is 15,990. We need to provide food for our neighbors in need! “You must actively help the hungry and feed the oppressed...” Isaiah 58:10: t this crazy fun Feed the Funnel party, volunteers can choose from a variety of positions.
