A Greener Shade of Orange

A Greener Shade of Orange

Managing our environment

Over the past several years, STIHL has made significant investments in Research and Development to address our environmental footprint. STIHL is dedicated to developing products that are environmentally responsible. We are proud that our product line features some of the best available technologies and some of the cleanest running outdoor power equipment available today.

STIHL will continue to work toward socially responsible environmental stewardship both in operation and manufacture. We are also working to increase environmental awareness in our vendors and business partners. After all, taking care of nature is the very basis of our operation.

STIHL partners with agencies and organisations that encourage the responsible use of natural resources, promote sustainable growth woodlands, and support the continuing education of our future farmers and agribusiness professionals. A long-term proponent of responsible forest management, STIHL believes we can all work together to keep our country clean, green and beautiful.

Low-emission engine technologies

STIHL low-emission engine technologies

STIHL employs a variety of technologies to meet and exceed EPA and CARB requirements while meeting the needs of its customers. Various technologies utilised include stratified charge, catalytic converters and the STIHL 4-MIX®. STIHL bases the technology selected for a particular product on that best-suited to the product’s applications. The STIHL 4-MIX® engine

This revolutionary technology features a patented lubrication design that allows the 4-cycle engine to use standard STIHL 2-cycle (50:1) fuel mix, thus eliminating the extra oil tank for engine lubrication. The STIHL 4-MIX® engine is lightweight, powerful and has fast acceleration while exceeding current low-emission requirements. The STIHL Class IV and Class V 4-MIX® engines offer some of the cleanest running engines in their respective classes, according to the most recent information as posted January 2007 on the EPA Web site. Breaking it down

As we lead the charge in developing cleaner engines, similarly we lead the way in minimising environmental impact by producing non-petroleum based oils and lubricants. Our BioPlus™ bar and chain oil is highly biodegradable in only 21 days, reinforcing our assertive position in caring for nature.
