Currently, San Antonio has around 180,000 apartment units, and just under 10,000 being developed as of July 2018. The city is growing at a rapid pace, with certain pockets being recognized as the fastest-growing areas in Texas.

Women in Business: Real Estate
Autumn Leigh Chaulklin on Building a Legacy Autumn sits in her office, staring out the window, elbow on her desk, hand propping up her chin. You can tell by her eyes that she is in deep thought… and all she was asked was to talk about herself. “What do I say? Hello, my name is Autumn and I’m a Property Manager? It’s so much more than that…” Autumn has deep passion for the multi-family housing industry. Her 19-year career began as a leasing consultant in Dallas, then Autumn quickly worked her way up the industry ladder. Moving to San Antonio at the end of 2000, this career has sustained her as a single mother of three children. She began working for Greystar Real Estate Partners in December of 2016. “I love Greystar. I love everything Greystar stands for. We have Core Values that we align ourselves with, in every business situation. It feels good to operate with integrity and with full support of company leadership. It is empowering.”
“When we broke ground at Dalian 151 in March of 2017, I told the management team and construction team that we were building a legacy. 360 apartment homes… 600 residents year after year… Nothing was insignificant in this project. From the workers moving dirt, to the framers, to the project manager that oversees the final details, we contribute to legacy, and we are changing the face of San Antonio. So often, people feel insignificant in their jobs. You have to step back and look at the big picture. When this project is complete, and Dalian 151 is full of residents, this address will be forever remembered. In 40 years, families will drive by. Grandfathers will point out this community and say ‘I met your Grandmother there… we fell in love at the pool.’ Life decisions will be made… Connections will be made that will change the course of people’s lives. We contribute to that.” Autumn was asked what advice she would give women in business today. Without hesitation, she answered, “You can build a legacy in any field. Legacy is built through connections. Women connect with others daily. We connect by listening. Be curious. Don’t assume. Ask more questions. Make others feel valued and important. Be kind, but have boundaries. Good business is all about relationships. Align yourself with others that value integrity. Don’t shy away from criticism, but reflect and grow.” She laughed. “I could go on and on! Invest in yourself so you can invest in others. Bottom line, we all have it in us. We must dig deep and unearth our own potential. No matter the challenge, always remember that legacy begins with you.”
