Italy Trip

Photo Essay By Samantha Taylor

The following is photos captured on a trip to Italy, May 16-21, 2016. The photo essay will capture not only the beauty of the city, but the journey I took around Italy. The culture and history is still alive and very compelling to any guest in the city. At times it was hard to image that people really do live in such a beautiful city. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them! Samantha Taylor

May 17, 2016: We landed in Rome, Italy. We took a two-hour bus ride to Florence. Once we got to the hotel we went and explored the city. The view of the street was breath taking alone, and we hadn’t seen any tourist cites yet!

May 17, 2016: We had been walking around for about five minute when we turned the corner and saw The Duomo. It was huge and decorative almost like a cake, but it was beautiful.

May 18, 2016: Today we went to the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, which is home to the statue of David. After studying the statue in Western Art Appersiation last semester seeing the statue in person is definitely worth it.

May 18, 2016: We are heading to our next museum and I still can’t believe I am in Italy. Also can’t believe people actually live in those apartments, and it’s not a set from a Disney movie.

May 18, 2016: Today we went to the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, which is home to the statue of David. After studying the statue in Western Art Appersiation last semester seeing the statue in person is definitely worth it.

May 18 2016: Our last time walking in these streets of Florence. They will be missed!

May 19 2016: Our first day in Rome, Italy. There is plant life everywhere in the streets.

May 19, 2016: We are finally in Rome, Italy and our first stop is The Pantheon.

May 19, 2016: Inside the Pantheon, and the first thing I did was look up.

May 19, 2016: We finished the day off by going by The Trevi Fountain, and making a few wishes.

May 20, 2016: We get off the subway and there it is, The Colosseum.

May 20, 2016: The Colosseum is so big it makes people look like they are ants.

May 20, 2016: It is crazy to think about all that has happened inside of that arena. It’s hard not to find the building beautiful even though what happened inside was ugly.
