The Trapiche BarnabĂŠ Site: Salvador de Bahia, Brasil Topic: Rehabilitation Year: 2017 Teacher: Massimo Faiferri, Samanta Bartocci, Fabrizio Pusceddu My thesis project starts from the analysis of the city of Salvador and identify as critical point the ComĂŠrcio neighborhood. The city is characterized by the opposition of sea/ocean and high/low city and by religious, culinary and musical syncretism. Salvador appear fragmented by material and immaterial limits; the first one are the private properties, the second one is tied to the fear. The design strategy aims to leave the condition of the ruin unchanged as possible, the building is the start point of a system of urban containers that characterize the district and works as urban attractors. The project, is developed on a different layers: the preexistence, a walking path and volumes.

What the water gave me Site: Alghero, Italy Topic: Teacher: Josep Mias The start of the project is the analysis about a Frida Kahlo’s painting “What the water gave me”. I analyzed the symbols and references to Frida’s life and painting. I split the picture into parts that referred to the most important phases of his life, all this was associated with a palette of colors. The potential of this phase lies in the fact that depending on how you fold or look at it you can isolate or “cut” pieces of Khalo’s painting. I have transformed this ideal cutout into a real collage cutout. I reworked a garden through Frida’s eyes, I painted it ideally as she would do it.

A box in a box Site: Lisbon, Portugal Topic: Executive project Year: 2016 Teacher: A. P. Brito de Silva The project, located in Campolide park, in Lisbona, is designed to create a multifunctional centre with study hall, a library, an exibition center, a bar and a public transitional space that has a good relationship with the context. The project is developed in three cubes, one inside the other, whose walls deploy the functions connected to them, each cube is moistened differently and features various functions. the building will be illuminated both laterally and zenithally

Urban Rooms Site: Alghero, Italy Topic: Workshop, urban reactivation, urban acupuncture Year: 2017 Teacher: Massimo Ferrari The workshop, based on public space spaces and how these can influence learning, aims to solve the problem of urban voids in the Historical Center of Alghero after the bombing of 1943. These voids, now empties and abandoned squares, will be rifunzionionalized. Four elements are important in the Historical Center: play, representation, study and entertainment. Each one caracterize each space in realtionship with other historical function in the area. These spaces, still for the use of the community, will be equipped for one of these four activities.

Refill Site: Monserrato, Italy Topic: Rehabilitation Year: 2015 Teacher: Massimo Faiferri Monserrato is a 20.000 residents town adjacent to the main city of Sardinia. The project stems from the need to recover an old winery and turn it into a public space acessible to the population, in an dense e purely residential area. The project is part of a set of regenetation interventions in the olt town. It implies diverse funtion: residences for researchers and academics, neighborhood services, public and common spaces.

Abitar mรณvel Site: Sines, Portugal Topic: Megastructure Year: 2015 Teacher: Victor Neves Sines, a city of future industrial development, need to create new housing for workers who will have to work in this area. For that reason is necessary to create a compact and habitable structure but at the same time it can be moved to a future change of needs. The project is conceived with a double structure, the first one is a steel skeleton, the second consisting of housing units, made by conteiners. Each one unit will be individually transportable and will relate to public connection spaces. Every living unit has space for the family and the space for work and every block of buildings has its own spaces for the community.
