1.1 spanning structure Element used : wire Aim : to construct a spanning structure homogenous in nature, Using the properties of the given material , with the help of certain operatives. We started by building a base component . Our base component was in the shape of 2 pyramids inverted and joint. We joint the components with thinner wire so our entire structure was homogenous. It was in the shape of an arch with its end bifurcated therefore the entire structure resembled a tripod providing more strength and stability. We also played with the density of the structure by altering the joinery at various places, some being closely packed whereas some being sparse making it lighter for better stability of the structure.

2.2 KHETWADI

THE BUILT FORM OF A TYPICAL CHAWL IN KHETWADI APPEARS AS A SOLID BLOCK OF MASS FROM ITS EXTERIOR, BUT IN REALITY CONTAINS VARIOUS LAYERS SHOWING POROSITY AT DIFFERENT STAGES.AS ONE GOES INSIDE, VARIOUS KINDS OF OPENINGS OF DIFFERENT SIZES ADD TO THE POROSITY IN THE CHAWL. ELEMENTS LIKE CORRIDOORS, COURTAYRDS, OVERHEAD BRIDGES, NICHES ETC, ALL FORM A VERY STRONG CONNECTED MASS AND VOID SYSTEM, GIVING RISE TO MANY VISUAL CONNECTIONS BETWEEN SPACES.
