MESSAGE FROM THE PRODUCERS Welcome to the 32nd annual Canadian Hairstylist of the Year Awards— the Contessas! Tonight, as we virtually gather to honour the award winners, we’re also celebrating the strength and resilience of Canadian hairstylists, nail techs and makeup artists. We know this year has been tough, but we are proud to be hosting an event that connects us during a time when it’s needed more than ever. Each year, this night provides a platform that unites us all and showcases the exceptional talent in our industry. There’s no doubt that each year the work gets better and better. However, we also understand that this year was unlike any other. For many, a photo shoot was simply not in the cards, which is why our team worked quickly to modify our entry rules and allow collections from the last two years to be re-entered. This “second chance” gave some collections another opportunity at the coveted Contessa titles, which we hope provides some much-needed light at the end of the tunnel. As you view the finalist collections, you will also notice we’ve introduced a brand-new category, Freestyle, to allow one-photo entries for the first time in Contessa history! As we celebrate tonight’s Contessa award winners, we’re also excited to see the creative presentations from Wella Professionals, Redken and Schwarzkopf Professional. We’re blown away by the overwhelming support we’ve received from you—our professional beauty family—and our generous sponsors, who’ve supported our vision in delivering a brand-new virtual Contessa Awards platform.
