October - December 2023 – Only Text Version Dear friends and benefactors, They say Christmas is a time for sharing our love, a time for exchanging gifts with each other. Why do we give gifts to one another on Christmas? The feast of Christmas brings us to the heart of our Christian faith. Because it was on that first Christmas that God the Father gave us the most valuable gift of all. “God so loved us so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life.”

(John 3:16.) God the Father was the first giver and Jesus was the first gift to us. To remember this, we celebrate the Christians sharing our love and giving wonderful gifts willingly to others especially to the young and needy during this Christmas.

It is also a time to say thank you for all your love and support during the year. May the Christmas season fill your community, home with joy, your heart with love and your life with laughter.

Once again, we wish you a Blessed and Merry Christmas Celebration and a Prosperous New Year 2024. May God bless you abundantly during the New Year granting you good health and joyous life.

DBCF-Battambang Tuesday 24th October 2023: Ms Carla and Mr Hans from the Netherlands, sponsors of our boy Sok Bunnoeun, student of Monivong High School in 11th grade and our girl Chamroeurn Rany, student of Chrey Second School, 8th grade, visited Don Bosco Salabalath. They also supported academic material.

Thursday 2nd November 2023: Distribution of gifts from sponsors such as clothes, shoes, backpacks, dolls, and some toys in Salabalath village. These children have no access to an environment that caters to their wellbeing.

Monday 30th October 2023: Ceremony of appreciation for students from 1st to 12th grade at Don Bosco Andaung Chenh.

Thursday 30th November 2023: Distribution of gifts from German sponsor Miss Sophia and Miss Laura to our girl Hun Pisey, 2nd grade at the Prey Konsek village. She was happy to receive candies, coloring books, two toothpaste and two brushes.

DBCF-Sihanoukville

Excursion to Siem Reap Province to visit the Angkor temples with a group of children.

The trip also included a visit to Don Bosco Poipet.

The new academic school year begun for our children's home. It is exciting to see them in new uniforms. They are happy with new clothes and study material. We send their smiles to all of you, with lots of love.

11 November 2023: Children, youth and staff celebrated the birthday of Fr Eugene Xalxo.

It was a day of great joy for us all. May God bless him for helping youth and children in Cambodia.

New Year and Christmas are approaching, the children in our foundation are happy to write letters and draw pictures to their sponsors. Thanks for all that support to help them in their education journey to have a better future.

DBCF-Kep 26-31 October 2023: Fr. Samnang, as delegate for social communication, participated at the Indigenous Peoples, Synodality & Asian Church in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where he underlined the experience of Don Bosco Cambodia supporting also Cambodian indigenous children especially in Ratanakiri, Province.

31 October 2023: Don Bosco Cultural Night and celebration of the Halloween party with all children and youth from Don Bosco Kep.

21 November 2023: Home visits to the families of the Don Bosco Sun Children Program.

It helped their educators to understand their family background, needs and organize in a better way their support.

01-04 November 2023: Visit of two representatives of Kindermissionwerk of Germany, our main sponsors for the Don Bosco Sun Children Program: Ms Christine Mossoux of the young volunteers program and Ms Susanne Dietmann, journalists for the same agency. They visited the present young volunteer Miss Nora Gunstheimer, who is working at Don Bosco Kep as assistant volunteers for the children.

06-07 November 2023: Cambodia celebrated the National Exam for 12th grade students, something that involved many of our children supported by DBCF and Sun Children Program. Six young men of the Sun Children program presented the exam and passed, now applying to study at the Don Bosco Kep Technical School.

02 December 2023: Fr. Samnang and members of the Media Com Department visited the children of Oddar Meanchey, led by teacher Vann Bophai. Some of the children belong to the Kuy Indigenous community. Children in Oddar Meanchey are very far away and the few schools have only until 9th grade.

14-15 December 2023: Workshop on helping vulnerable children and young people by Caritas Cambodia. The workshop was attended by representatives from DBCF from Poipet (2), Phnom Penh (1), Sihanoukville (1) and Kep (10) and members of other children organization such as Together from Cambodia of Siem Reap (5) and Kep Gardens (2).

DBCF-Poipet 20th October 2023: Students of 12th grade of Don Bosco Poipet traveled to Bantey Chammar for the final exams. For three days the staff and students lived in a government school. It was a challenging experience as they had to cook their own food and live in tents. We received the results of the exams and all have passed. May our students continue to fly to new horizons.

12th October 2023: Female students of Don Bosco Poipet Primary School were vaccinated. It was an initiative to prevent them from any illness and that they stay in good health. We thank our teachers for conducting this event.

29th October 2023: The staff of Don Bosco Children Fund along with the primary teachers visited the students. The purpose of the home visit is to meet the family of our students and get to know the environment that they are living in.

We began the work of updating our water system for the students. The water in Poipet town has residue of limestone that affects the health of the students. So with the help of our benefactors we changed the water system in the school.

13th November 2023: the staff of Don Bosco Poipet school met with Tr. Pov Tula and Fr. Roel Soto to plan the mission, vision, goals and objectives of the school. They say

that a ship needs a compass and this meeting helped us to plan and prepare for the next 5 years. We hope that we are the face of Don Bosco to all the young people.

1st - 3rd December: We had a dentist medical camp at Don Bosco Poipet. We thank the doctors who willingly checked all the students and ensured that our teeth are in good condition. We thank you dear doctors.

DBCF-Phnom Penh

26th October-23: The DBCF PP Team visited students and teacher volunteers to monitor the educational progress of students and encourage all students to study regularly in Deum Russ area, Kandal province.

27th October 2023: The parents of the students came to the office to write the Christmas letters and the DBCF team asked the parents for some information regarding the student's educational status and contact with Wing card.

Mr. Lim Sophearun, our staff member, met with the API Organization to develop a project to help poor children.

24th November 23: The DBCF team PP, visited a volunteer teacher who was being treated at Calmette Hospital. He is Chuon Huon, we pray for his good health and well being.

04th December 23: Volunteer teachers in the Peamor area gathered students at the school on the opening day of the new school year.

Volunteer teacher activities: They gathered the students to teach students lessons in schools at the Wat Chhung Leap-Hiv.

04th December 23: Volunteer Teacher Activities. He calls his students to a monthly meeting to record student attendance and monitor student progress. After the meeting, the volunteer teacher distributes some books to students to encourage them to study hard.
