YOUTH COMMUNITY SCHOOLS PROGRAMS

Throughout the school year, various programs will be offered at the following schools directly after dismissal: Bates, Bentley, Bowditch, Carlton, Horace Mann, Saltonstall and Witchcraft. TUMBLE WEEDS

Age: 2-3 years, with parent participation Date: Session I: Thursdays, Sept. 20 to Nov. 8; Session II, Thursdays, Nov. 15 to Jan. 17 (no class Nov. 22 and Dec. 27); Session III, Thursdays, Jan. 24 to March 21 (no class Feb. 21) Time: 9 to 9:45 a.m. Fee: $45 Place: Senior Center, 5 Broad St. Along with valuable social skills, a USYGA-certified gymnastics instructor will teach children balance through tumbling, singing and dancing. Program includes parental participation. Snack provided. Instructor: Joan Wilkins

TUMBLE ROLLERS

Age: 3-5 years Date: Session I: Thursdays, Sept. 20 to Nov. 8; Session II, Thursdays, Nov. 15 to Jan. 17 (no class Nov. 22 and Dec. 27); Session III, Thursdays, Jan. 24 to March 21 (no class Feb. 21) Time: 10 to 10:45 a.m. Fee: $45 Place: Senior Center, 5 Broad St. Similar to the Tumbleweeds program; however, in the Tumble Rollers program there will be no parental participation or snack provided. The class is limited to 10. Instructor: Joan Wilkins

PRESCHOOL YOGA

Age: 3-5 years Date: Wednesdays, Nov. 7 to Dec. 12 Time: 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. Fee: $55 per child, $75 for two siblings Place: Senior Center, 5 Broad St. A fun way to introduce your child to yoga through games, poses, music and play. Yoga is great for all body types and helps foster positive self-image and physical flexibility. Yoga has been shown to help acclimate children to daily changes and reduce anxiety-related behaviors. No yoga experience required. Have your child bring a small, peanut-free snack and water in a spill-proof container. Pre-registration required; class limited to eight. Instructor: Sandra L’Italien

LEARN TO PLAY GUITAR

Age: Grades 6-8 Fee: $35, includes book Date: Thursdays, Oct. 18 to Dec. 6 (no class Nov. 22) Time: 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Place: Senior Center, 5 Broad St. If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to play the guitar, this is the class for you. You’ll start learning how to read music and play guitar chords so you can begin playing your favorite songs. Bring your own guitar. Pre-registration is required. Instructor: A.J. Connolly

VIDEO BOOT CAMP

Age: 8-14 years Dates: Wednesdays, Oct. 3 to 24 Time: 3:30 to 5 p.m. Fee: Free to Salem children Place: Salem Access TV studio, 285 Derby St. Learn the basic operation of Salem Access TV’s digital camcorders and video editing. Participants will use footage they shoot themselves to create a program in which they call the shots. Class limited to 10. Instructor: Patrick Kennedy. 3
