58th Annual Luling Watermelon Thump
Summer is fast approaching and with it always comes that legendary Texas festival, The Watermelon Thump. For 58 years, Luling residents and visitors have celebrated the local harvest of watermelons with a wide range of activities. The four day event, which is always held the last Thursday through Sunday in June, includes a carnival, dances, beer garden, watermelon eating contest, watermelon seed spitting contest, food, arts and craft booths and rd more. This year’s event takes place from June 23 through June th rd th 26 . Thursday the 23 and Sunday the 26 are free entry, Friday, the th th 24 is $8 and Saturday, the 25 , is $10. Advance tickets for both Friday and Saturday night at $14 are available for purchase at the Luling Area Chamber of Commerce. For more information on the festival visit www.watermelonthump.com.

2011 Luling Main Street Volunteer Appreciation Awards
Chief Bill Sala received an award for the exceptional job in keeping all events safe and peaceful.
