ST. AMBROSE HISTORY CORNER: Before St. Ambrose was established, all denominations used the Methodist Church for their services. It was established in February, 1891, and was moved to Wall in the 1960’s and became known as the Traveling Church, being used by all denominations in the area. Some of the first St. Ambrose parishioners to be baptized there were: Joseph Kahlig and Annabell May Berger on May 18, 1941 and Jubililarian Tempe Braden Gerngross — June 9, 1941

FOURTH Key Passage: [The shepherd] goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. (John 14:6) SUNDAY Adult: How are you a shepherd to those in your care? OF Child: What will you do this week to show you are a Christian? EASTER Reprinted with permission from Heritage of Faith, published by Twenty-Third Publications.

Youth Corner...On Wednesday I attended the May Crowning of our Lady Virgin Mary in Mereta. Sylvia Chappa, along with Kathryn Gonzales and a few parents, were participating in the ceremony. Each one of the CCD students recited part of the rosary, which turned out to be a bilingual prayer as some of the students and adults would pray their part in Spanish. It truly was a gift to be in attendance during this event. Excellent job, you two! On the same evening at St. Ambrose, after the May Crowning ceremony, the kids were treated with a lasagna supper sponsored by some of the parents; then awards were given out by each of the CCD teachers. The teachers who volunteered their time throughout the school year are to be commended for their time and effort in preparing for the CCD classes. I know Dolores and Kathy appreciate all you do each year. Relay for Life is set for May 20th. We will need all participants to complete and turn in a Parent/Guardian Permission form. These will be in the back of Church, or see myself or Phyllis for one. Students and sponsors are asked to begin arriving @ 4:00 pm at the ASU Track & Field on Jackson St. Everyone can have a part in helping the American Cancer Society by making a donation. Just see one of our Jr. High Youth Group members, Phyllis, or myself. Congratulations to the WHS Golf Team who brought home the first ever State Championship! The team: Will Henderson (Sr.), Jacob Daughtry (Sr.), Garrett Smith (Jr.), Ethan Drain (Fr.), and Tanner Gerngross (Fr.). Your Brother in Christ, Deacon Dan Shannahan
