reetings and Happy New Year! As the new year starts, just a few items to finish 2012; our slate of officers will be announced in February’s Reporter, as of the deadline of this article, the vote hasn’t been taken. John Winters is pleased with the Greeter turnout at last year’s events, particularly our showing at the parades, at our holiday dinner and our support of activities at the temple. Congratulations to Secretary/Treasurer Bill Batten. He was honored as 2012 Greeter of the Year.

Anytime a problem arose, he stepped up and filled the void. When anyone was under the weather, they would receive a call from Bill. These are a few examples of his value and dedication. Bill is justly deserving. Birthdays for January are Ruben Andress, Floyd Bowser and Fred Ziehlsdorf. Let us keep all ill Greeters and any ill family members in our prayers. Join the Prestige Unit – Be a Greeter!

appy New Year from the Mariners; this is an exciting time for the Mariners with new officers taking charge. This will be made official at the Change of Watch on January 10 at Tara. The newly installed officers are as follows: Commodore ................... Mel Collins Vice Commodore ........... Don Vos, PP Rear Commodore .......... Oscar Cloutier, PP Fleet Captain .................. Lacey Cross Asst. Fleet Captain ........ Jon Neary Chaplain ......................... Cub Dickerson, PC Secretary ........................ George Cancro Treasurer ........................ Bill McKown With this leadership, the Mariners will continue to be the great unit that has always helped Sahib be strong. We are all looking forward to a wonderful 2013.

I have enjoyed serving as the Commodore of the Mariners for the past year and sad that it is ending. We have had many accomplishments this year and few disappointments. None of this could have happened without the help of the Bridge, the Past Commodores and members. We can’t forget our ladies who have supported us and been a part of most of our activities. I want to thank all Mariners and Mates for helping make my year as Commodore a success. I especially want to thank Fleet Captain Max Misemer for all of his help and hard work last year. Unfortunately, Max and Cindy are moving from the area. I feel confident turning over the helm to the new Commodore Mel Collins. Mel has proven he has the leadership qualities to move the Mariners forward with even greater accomplishments and more fun. I want to wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous 2013. Happy Boating.

We can’t grow, if they don’t know!
