A Note from our SWD Captain

The enthusiasm and participation with SWD continues to set records! Laura Kraft and Colin Campbell along with the entire Golf staff amaze us with their “can do” attitudes, “out of the box” thinking and working hard to stay ahead of the game with our busy event schedule.

“Spooky Spring Field Day” was a huge success with record participants playing in both the competition and the famed Horserace. As usual, the costumes were hilarious and added to the fun!

Presidents Cup was held on June 27th, a one-day medal play competition Again, we had a record participation with 31% of our members playing. The overall net winner was yours truly, with Michelle Hood winning gross.

Captains Cup players have completed their first match, with winners going into their second one. We’ve almost doubled our participants from 2022 and the momentum continues to build with our newer members joining in.

Next up is the Senior Club Championship, one of two major tournaments combined with the men’s division July 78. This is a tougher one to schedule since it’s at the tail end of July 4th week but sure to be a great event. We are flighted by age, not handicap and we look forward to crowning both Senior and Super Senior champions!

“Partners in Crime” Invitational is July 12-14, led by SWD Assistant Captain, Julie Reid. There are some new and clever competitions and the final night includes dinner and dancing along with awards. Similar to the Men’s Invitational, we’re inviting our spouses or significant others to the final night party.

On the heels of that, we’re looking forward to the 2-day Member/Member event on Thursday-Friday, August 3-4, which just opened for registration and ladies are signing up already! This is one of our best attended tournaments and appeals to members of all handicap levels Grab your partner, go to SignUp Genius and get on the list!

I’m happy to report that the ladies locker room will soon have our pictures on the wall! This should help us become acquainted, especially our newer members When you’re ready to have your picture taken, either find me at the club or text/email me and we’ll get it done Our goal is to have every SWD member’s picture as well as ladies who aren’t SWD members

If you’re not yet a SWD member and are thinking about it, we welcome you. Sue Ursino and Fatima Siddiqui cochair our Hospitality/New Member committee. They’d be happy to take your phone call or sit down with you to discuss how SWD works. To make it easy, just call the Pro Shop or the office to get their contact information.

See you on the links!
