Tips To Installing And Maintaining Your Diesel Engine For Maximum Output

How To Extract Maximum Efficiency From Your Diesel Engine Diesel engines are quick to sustain damages due to improper installation or misuse, such as internal glazing and carbon build-up. Safety during installation is among the highest of priorities because, if done improperly, can lead to irreversible errors.

The following lists some safety tips to assist a smooth installation: 1. Only allow a properly qualified person perform the installation, as suggested by your dealer. This will clear the room of initial worries. 2. On delivery, unpack and inspect the item thoroughly for any signs of damage of any form. Any such damaged parts may need to be replaced before the installation process begins. 3. The prescribed voltage rating of the appliances you plan to use must match the voltage of the generator. 4. Ensure that the wattage capacity can sustain all needs during a power blackout. If necessary, critical loads can be independently wired into a separate distribution panel. 5. Place thediesel generatoron a plane level ground outside your home. The floor surface needs to be non-conducting and noncombustible. A slight gap between the generator and ground is preferable, in case of unexpected water levels. 6. Shortening the distance to the transfer switch and fuel supply from the generator can reduce the amount of cabling and piping. 7. Charge the batteries to full capacity before placing them into the generator. 8. Keep the transfer switch aligned with all points to prevent distortion. 9. Use the transfer switch alone to connect your generator with the main power supply to guarantee isolation between the generator power system and main power systems.

The efficiency of our engine can be seriously affected through contamination, causing wear and leading inevitably to expensive repairs. Keeping an eye on the kind of fuel used, and it's purity can cut maintenance costs to a bare minimum.

Here are some tips to maximise fuel efficiency:  Allow sediment to settle at the floor of the tank and flush it.  The fuel filter can contain built-up sediment, change the filter more often.  Add air filters to the fuel tank’s breathers, this helps reduce the intake of impurities.  Small levels of water can condense within the fuel tank, leading to corrosion and breeding of microorganisms. To reduce water in your fuel: 1. Regularly drain your fuel tank 2. Purchase fuel from a trusted and reliable source that ensures quality 3. Use hydro-separators.  To get rid of microorganisms in the tank: 1. Use a biocide when tank is full, preventing growth of microorganism on the inner walls. 2. To avoid plugging filters with dead microorganisms, filter fuel after using biocides.  Before removing fuel filters or other fuel system components for repairs and maintenance, clear particulate debris from the engine compartments.  Keep all openings tightly plugged all the time, especially during repairs.  Improper sealing, unmonitored fuel transfers and prolonged storage are common factors leading to fuel tank contamination.  Use proper cleaning and drying methods.  Replace seals, avoid reuse.  Routine inspection of fuel pumps and pipes is advised.
