W ELCO M E TO L EB A N O N O P ER A H O US E Built in 1924, LOH is prominently situated on the Colburn Park green in historic downtown Lebanon—an area bustling with creative energy. LOH is the home stage for a dozen community arts groups (including Opera North, North Country Community Theatre, City Center Ballet, and Revels North) and serves as the center of arts-based presentations for the Lebanon School District. For our LOH Presents series, we bring world-class touring artists such as Keb’ Mo’ (pictured below) to our stage while continuing to support the work of emerging artists through LOH on Location, a series of intimate performances at First Congregational Church of Lebanon. We’re also reclaiming our roots as a movie house with low-cost film screenings. It’s all made possible thanks to the vital support of the individuals, businesses, and foundations celebrated in this book. We are an independent nonprofit organization that receives no direct funding from the City of Lebanon. Each time you purchase a ticket or make a donation, you help sustain the work of this 95-year-old cultural institution. Donations to LOH help us achieve our goal of presenting high-quality performances in music, dance, and theater. Support from patrons like you assures that all artists—regardless of age or experience level—have an opportunity to perform for enthusiastic audiences on a professional stage surrounded by expert technicians and quality equipment. Anyone who’s worked in the arts will tell you: it’s a pursuit of passion, not of profit. We simply cannot continue this level of programming without you. Thank you. With appreciation,
Joe Clifford, Executive Director

Two of the Lebanon-based community music school’s resident ensembles (Upper Valley Chamber Orchestra and Juneberry Community Chorus) now offer public performances at LOH.
NORTH COUNTRY COMMUNITY THEATRE/NCCT TEENS
CITY CENTER BALLET City Center’s artistic team combines the talents of Upper Valley students with international guest artists to produce large-scale productions at LOH.
Since 1973, NCCT has produced quality community theater productions for adults and young people.
LEBANON SCHOOL DISTRICT/SAU 88
THE DANCE COLLECTIVE
LOH provides a safe and professional environment for staging many of the district’s instrumental, vocal, and theater productions.
Through patient and positive methods, TDC choreographers encourage young dancers to explore their love of movement.
TRUMBULL HALL TROUPE
RAQS SALAAM DANCE THEATER

NORTH COUNTRY CHORDSMEN
The Upper Valley’s resident barbershop-style chorus presents playful programs of a cappella entertainment for audiences of all ages.
Best known for its annual Christmas Revels program, LOH’s newest partner provides year-round multigenerational programming celebrating the power of traditional song, dance, storytelling, and ritual.

How do bubbles form? Why are they round? What are those molecules doing? Casey Carle—a Ringling Brothers clown-turned-science educator—answers these questions and more in a fast ‘n’ funny performance fusing eye-popping bubble art with jaw-dropping bubble science.
Roy and Silo—two male chinstrap penguins—are a bonded pair. They walk, play, swim, and dance together. After they try (and fail) to hatch a rock, the zookeeper gives them an abandoned egg and they quickly find themselves on an adventure. With Penguins, this Belfast-based company celebrates love and the ever-evolving meaning of family. Inspired by a real-life event, this nonverbal theater production comes to life with delightful music, inventive choreography, and a sprinkling of magic.
Infinitus String Trio Thursday, November 7 @ 10 am Recommended for grades 4-8 Infinitus is a critically-acclaimed beatboxing string trio praised for its unique sound and buoyant performance style. BOX OFFICE INFORMATION Online: www.lebanonoperahouse.org Phone: 603.448.0400 Office: 5 1 North Park Street The first office on the left as you enter the lobby.
NIGHT OF SHOW PARKING Free parking for LOH events is available in the front of the building around Colburn Park, in the municipal lot in back, or on the other end of the pedestrian mall.
The box office is open 12–5 pm, Monday through Friday except for holidays when city hall is closed. On show days, the box office opens at least one hour before the show and stays open through intermission.
INCLEMENT WEATHER If an event is presented as scheduled, LOH is contractually obligated to pay the artists and is therefore unable to issue refunds. In the unlikely event a show is canceled, audience members will be notified via email and/or phone as soon as possible. Cancellation notices will also be posted on LOH’s website and social media pages.
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. All tickets are subject to a theater preservation fee that supports the maintenance, restoration, and improvement of the venue and ticket processing fees that cover the cost of box office fees, supplies, and staff.
The building doors are open at least one hour before the show and the doors to the theater usually open 30 minutes before showtime.
LOH is proud to support paperless ticketing. Simply select email delivery and tickets will be sent to you as a PDF attachment. We will scan the QR code directly from the PDF on your smart device.
SITTING/STANDING POLICY We do not enforce a “must-sit” policy at concerts. For most events this would not be acceptable to the performers on stage and is especially true for rock shows/ seats closest to the stage. If your view is ever blocked by a standing or dancing guest, please contact an usher and we’ll attempt to find alternative seating.
Print at Home–select email delivery and print the PDF attachment at home. Will Call–pick up your tickets at the will call booth one hour before the performance or during regular business hours. Ship–select shipping for delivery and we will mail the tickets to you (additional fee applies).
DANCING Due to fire regulations, dancing is not allowed in any aisles or in front of the stage. Dancing is allowed at your seat or in the rear of the auditorium. Please be considerate of those around you when standing and moving. For general admission performances, patrons are allowed to move from seat to seat, based on availability.
REFUNDS AND EXCHANGES All ticket sales are final and nonrefundable.
All events at LOH have accessible and companion seating available upon request. Please request these seats when ordering tickets. An elevator is available for access to the lobby, box office, restrooms, and orchestra level of the theater. There is no elevator access to the balcony.
Flash photography and professional photography are not allowed without prior authorization from LOH and the artist. Please review signage at the venue for photography/ video restrictions as they change depending on the artist and event. When photography and/or video are allowed, audience members are asked to be courteous to those around them when using their device.
RESTROOMS Accessible restrooms are located in the LOH lobby and on the fifth floor.
REFRESHMENTS Local nonprofit organizations often sell light snacks, desserts, and non-alcoholic beverages in the lobby before a show and during intermission. Only water is allowed in the theater so all refreshments must be consumed in the lobby. Because LOH is located in a municipal building, no alcohol is allowed on the premises.
OTHER ACCOMMODATIONS Assistive listening headsets for hearing amplification are available in the box office free of charge. Sign language interpretation and Braille/large-print programs for LOH events are available upon request with 15 business days notice. 35

Lebanon Opera House has been the cultural center for the city of Lebanon and surrounding communities since it was originally built in the middle of Colburn Park in 1792, where it remained until it was moved to its current location in 1851. While the building was unscathed during a major fire in 1887, it did burn to the ground in 1923. Over the next year, a new brick building was constructed and that building still stands today.
The facilities proved inadequate, however, and further shows refused to play in the theater. It was only after an extensive renovation to City Hall in 1975 and a pre-Broadway run of Moss Hart’s Light up the Sky that professional tours embraced LOH.
The theater has always shared space with the City of Lebanon. Along with municipal offices, LOH has housed the Grafton County Superior Court, the police department with jail cells, a gymnasium, and a bicycle rink. The venue has also been popular for political rallies, hosting Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglass and presidential candidates from John F. Kennedy to Barack Obama.
In 1991 the Lebanon City Council established the Lebanon Opera House Improvement Corporation, a nonprofit dedicated to maintaining LOH as a multifaceted community resource. The organization continued to grow and in 2001 LOH successfully completed another comprehensive physical renovation, financially supported by over 1,000 individuals, foundations, and local companies. Improvements included reupholstered seats and refinished floors, while an addition greatly expanded the backstage and artist lounge areas.
Along with live entertainment, movies have been shown in LOH since 1925. In the early 1950s, a renovation turned the venue into the “most modern of motion picture theaters.” As multiplexes gained popularity, LOH fell into a bit of disrepair although it continued showing films into the 1970s.
The community came together again a decade later to donate more than $500,000 to the organization’s sustainability campaign. These funds allowed LOH to truly become a home for performing arts throughout the entire Upper Valley and create a sustainable business model for the future.
In 1969, Lebanon High School’s music director Ralph Bowie worked with a team of community members to fix up the space and use it for the high school musicals. Together with Jack O’Connell, for whom the theater is named, Ralph worked with Dartmouth College to present several professional productions.
Today, LOH continues to present exciting touring artists and prides itself on providing essential space and services to local arts groups, nonprofit organizations and schools.

C H A L L EN G E ACC EP T ED ! We’ve received a $75,000 matching grant challenge from the
JACK AND DOROTHY BYRNE FOUNDATION in support of our 2019/2020 season. Join the campaign’s lead donors, Phil and Kate Harrison, in our efforts to meet this exciting fundraising goal: “We believe that the arts are uniquely human experiences which provide a critical educational and cultural component to our community. As the home to a large and diverse number of local performing arts organizations, LOH provides a stage for both community performers and audiences to share in these cultural experiences. A gift to LOH also helps the organization bring acclaimed performers of national prominence to our community. Backed by the incredibly generous support of the Byrne Foundation, your gift will receive a dollar-for-dollar match. Please support LOH.” Gifts received through December 31 will be matched by the Foundation— up to a total of $75,000. Please consider a donation today.

BR AVO! Thanks to the support of more than 50 generous donors, the 88 Keys campaign was a success and our grand piano is in the house. LOH’s new Steinway B came to us via Gregory Norbet, a composer and singer who spent 21 years as a Benedictine monk at Weston Priory in Vermont prior to moving to the Upper Valley. He is deeply touched to know his piano begins its second act in a theater where it will be loved for generations.
