Most important aspects related to the CEFR

Most important aspects related to the Common European Framework of Reference Introduction The CEFR provides the common basis to the elaboration of language syllabuses, curriculum guidelines, examinations, textbooks, etc. across Europe. It provides a common basis for the explicit description of: objectives, content and methods; it also divides learners into three broad divisions, divided at the same time into six different levels. 1. What is the Common European Framework of References of Language?

The Common European Framework is a guideline that establishes the knowledge and skills that people must develop in order to the correct use of a new language. It also, provides some relevant aspects of the elaboration of syllabuses, examinations, etc. The main objective is to provide a method of learning, teaching and assessing that can be applied to all languages in Europe. There are many different educational systems in Europe, so the CEFR tries to set and coordinate the teaching and learning of new languages. Furthermore, it will facilitate the recognition of qualifications gained in different settings. 2. The aims and objectives of council of Europe language policy.

There are three important principles: •

The diverse languages and cultures in Europe must be a source of mutual enrichment and understanding.

Better knowledge of European modern languages.

Better convergence at the hour of adopting or developing national policies in the learning and teaching of a modern language.

Thus, governments of the European countries should collaborate in learning, teaching and development of methodologies and evaluations in order to promote a better acquisition of a new language. In addition, the CDCC (Council for cultural cooperation) encourages the language teaching with the next principles: •

Those languages should enable people to satisfy their communication needs in some aspects as business, everyday life, thoughts and cultural background.

Promote, encourage and support the efforts of teachers and learners.
