Pearl Saad Shaw and Melvin B. Shaw bring more than fifty years of high-profile experience in both fundraising and business development to their unique partnership. Mel and Pearl believe fundraising strategies must be individually crafted to address the specific needs of each client—“cookie-cutter” approaches will not work! They will create a fundraising plan designed just for your organization—and stay with you until the plan is fully working. When you engage Saad & Shaw, you get Pearl and Mel—from start to finish. Melvin Shaw is a nationally known fundraising innovator. Among his many accomplishments, Mel originated the United Negro College Fund Lou Rawls Parade of Stars Telethon, a program that has raised more than half a billion dollars for the Fund to date. He also served as Vice President, Development for the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, where he was instrumental in eliminating the University’s debt and building a surplus. Mel served as Executive Director of the Texas Association of Developing Colleges (TADC), where he established innovative and mutually beneficial joint programs for TADC members, such as the East Texas Educational Opportunity Center, a federally funded program that has served 60,000 students since Mel founded it in the early 1980s. Mel unites a life-long passion for community service with the proven business management techniques he acquired at Lane College, the University of Memphis (MBEd), and as a fellow at Harvard University’s Institute of Education Management.
