“New-found freedom!” As Ron relaxes in his armchair, he ponders on what he likes the most about his new serviced apartment. It’s something you can’t actually see – freedom! Ron and his wife, Lesley, moved into an independent apartment at the Weary Dunlop Retirement Village and loved the lifestyle. When Lesley’s health needs changed, she moved into the aged-care centre on-site. Ron then made the move to a serviced apartment. Since the move, Ron’s social circle has grown. He now enjoys the provided midday meal in the dining room with new friends and regular outings to the local community. Ron also receives support with domestic tasks, which provides him more freedom to enjoy the things he loves. “It makes life a bit easier. I get a terrific amount of help from (my housekeeper) Julie. She does a terrific job.” Most importantly, Ron has more time to spend with Lesley, whose room is just a short distance away. He visits her for morning and afternoon tea, and keeps her up-to-date with what he’s been up to. Which is typically, quite a lot!
