RYE YMCA FALL 2021 PROGRAM GUIDE SESSION 2: NOVEMBER 13 - JANUARY 30 Session 2: October 17-November 20 RYE YMCA 21 LOCUST AVENUE, RYE

Dear Friends, We’ve never been one to rest on our laurels. Although we’re proud of everything we’ve accomplished, and everything we’ve helped you accomplish over the years, we’ve always known we could do more: more support for working families, more space for our members to grow stronger and healthier, and more opportunities for community partnerships. That’s why we’re so excited about our second facility. Located at 1037 Boston Post Road and scheduled to open next spring, The Studios at the Rye YMCA will be a vibrant and modern community hub for all ages and abilities. In addition to bringing the Y’s most popular classes under one roof, it will free up space at 21 Locust Avenue for a new full-day child care program. (See page 24 for more information about child care.) The Y Studios will be our most significant expansion since 2003. If you’d like to be part of this next milestone for the Rye Y, please consider a gift to the Growing Stronger Together capital campaign. There are many ways to give, and many ways for your generosity to be recognized, including with a personalized tile that will be displayed at the Y Studios. Click here for more information and to donate. We’re thrilled about this project and hope you are too! Watch for more information in the coming months. In the meantime, be sure to renew your Y membership if you’ve let it lapse, or become a member if you’ve never joined. You don’t want to miss all of the excitement to come! Sincerely,

Gregg Howells Executive Director P.S. You don’t need to wait for the Y Studios to open to enjoy your favorite Y activities. As the Rye Y returns to normal (or as close to it as possible in this post-pandemic world), I invite you to come back to the Y for a swim, a class, a work-out or just to say “hi”!

FOR COMMUNITY: SUPPORTING WORKING FAMILIES Child care is not something most people think about. Unless you’re a parent who’s desperately trying to get your kid dressed, fed and out the door so you can drop him off at day care before catching the 8:02 to Grand Central. Or you’re a single mother juggling child care that ends at 5:30 and a job that ends at six. Or, you simply can’t afford the cost of quality, licensed care. Our staff understands the struggles of working families. Not only because many of us have children ourselves, but also because the Rye Y has provided safe, nurturing affordable child care for 73 years. And during the pandemic, as essential workers headed into their jobs and stressed parents held Zoom meetings with toddlers clamoring in the background, we were reminded just how critical child care is for so many. That’s why the Rye Y is committed to supporting working families in ways that meet their needs. This fall, we will expand our child care program, offering—for the first time—full-day care for ages 18 months to five years. We will also provide school-age care at both the Rye Y and F.E. Bellows Elementary School (the latter for students in the Rye Neck School District). The Rye Y can’t solve every parenting challenge. But we can ease your mind when it comes to child care. And if you need financial assistance? Talk to us. We can help. For more information about our child care programs, visit ryeymca.org/childcare or contact Kathy Lynam at kathylynam@ryeymca.org

Y CARES As a nonprofit charitable organization, the Rye Y is committed to keeping our programs and services affordable to all. Our donor-funded Y Cares Financial Assistance program makes that commitment possible. Through Y Cares, children grow in confidence, make friends and learn new skills at summer camp. Working parents can relax knowing that their children are safe and nurtured at the Y’s child care programs. Seniors stay active and engaged. Y Cares also supports free community programs, including LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, which offers hope and healing to cancer survivors; and Safety Around Water, our drowning prevention initiative for young children. If you would like to inquire about financial assistance, please contact Barbara Hughes, Membership Engagement Director, at barbarahughes@ryeymca.org. All applications are kept confidential. If you would like to support Y Cares through a gift to our Annual Campaign, please contact Susan Olson, Development Director, at susanolson@ryeymca.org. RYE YMCA FALL 2021
