Rye College For the arts and enterprise
Space to learn
This brochure offers you an insight into the fantastic range of activities and opportunities on offer here at Rye College. In addition to reading about us we would like to invite you to visit us and find out more about our work. Our College is small, in an attractive rural setting; a place where students can feel safe and have space to learn, where they are known as individuals and where their talents are nurtured. Our Vision: As a member of the Rye Academy Trust we will place learning at the heart of our community; supporting learners to secure a better future for themselves and for our local area. Our Aim: To work with young people and their families to support successful learning that will help them to contribute positively to community life. We are proud of the positive reputation we have for supporting all of the members of our college community to develop and shine. We seek every opportunity to bring learning to life, develop confidence and creativity in all our learners. Rye College provides learners from 11 to 16 years of age with a unique experience; a place where tradition meets with innovation.

groups arranged across year groups so that they become true family groupings. Good, positive, supportive relationships exist between students, with senior students accepting responsibility for mentoring and supporting younger students. Our tutors act as mentors, getting to know their students well and are a first point of contact with parents on all matters social and academic, which affect a student’s well being. We have high expectations of attitudes and behaviour which are well respected by our students themselves. It is to their credit that our students care about one another and take a pride in one another’s achievements.
Belong We want our young people to feel proud to belong to Rye College. We have an active Student Council that takes on responsibility for College improvement.
We help students to develop teamwork, trust in one another and forge friendships that endure beyond their time with us.

We are keen to develop our student leaders as peer mentors, mediators, coaches and ambassadors of our College in the community. Our students are encouraged to play an active role in College life and benefit from a wide range of enrichment activities, including sport, drama, music, dance, carnival, publishing, photography and film making. Residential visits in the UK and abroad include camping, water sports activities, abseiling and skiing. All of these activities help students to develop teamwork, trust in one another and forge friendships that endure beyond their time with us.
