"IN THE END, ITS NOT THE YEARS IN YOUR LIFE THAT COUNT...

IT’S THE LIFE IN YOUR YEARS.” -A B R A HA M L I N C O L N

PAXTON’S PASSING Answers are few, questions are many. Great memories of joy we all share plenty. A little brother he was and shadow to one, Until he found his own rhythm and beat of his drum. An older brother he was and friend also too, Having a kind word and helping hand for each of you. The beat of a mother’s heart as all children are, While miles separated, the voice of love was never far. On his own journey, this warrior went to sea Proudly he stood but he also prayed on bended knee. He was a lighthouse to many tossed in life, His voice brought calm amidst many the strife. He was light into a world cold and not bright, How I wish into his night we had been given sight. His days numbered few; his friends numbered more And in time short, he was always a peaceful shore. What lesson are we to learn in this grief? Finding a reason will give no relief. He is gone from us today and we all know sorrow. And knowing cause today eases no pain tomorrow. We loved him true and could have loved more, A ship needs harbor even on its own shore. Earth needed him here but Heaven called him home, I hope the angels appreciate him as their own. Our hearts are forever marked by the love of his casting, Let us learn to love one another more as we mourn Paxton’s passing. Eric R. Locklear
