GIVING BACK As one of The Heron Group of Companies, Heathwood Homes was instrumental in founding The Mikey Network. When Heathwood launched its latest community Meadowgreen, the company wanted to bring together its passion for homebuilding with its heartfelt commitment to The Mikey Network. Everyone who purchased a home at Meadowgreen had a MIKEY defibrillator donated to a local school in the Peel District school system, with a plaque in the school recognizing their life-saving contribution.
They say home is where the heart is‌ and Heathwood is demonstrating that in every new community it builds!

The Mikey Young At Heart App is awesome!
It has given me the confidence and skills to do CPR and use a MIKEY defibrillator without being nervous. The instructional videos are quite short and the quizzes are easy. Once I downloaded the app, it kept track of all my volunteer hours in one place, and without the hassle of me trying to find a volunteer position somewhere else. The Mikey Young At Heart App is an amazing tool for all high school students looking to earn their volunteer hours, learn life-saving skills, and shine light on a great

cause. The Mikey Network has put an amazing program right at our fingertips.
IN SCHOOLS ACROSS PEEL Among our many goals, The Mikey Network has committed to placing a MIKEY in each of the 260 public schools in Peel Region. Having MIKEY defibrillators in schools can potentially save the lives of students, staff, visiting parents and community members.

ANOTHER LIFE SAVED BY A MIKEY! When we put a MIKEY in a school, it’s not just a student or staff member whose life we might save. On the evening of January 15, 2016, in one of the gyms at Agincourt High School, a 72 year old man collapsed between badminton games and went into cardiac arrest. Luckily, a MIKEY defibrillator was on hand. Bystanders applied the MIKEY and began CPR. The Fire Department and Advanced Care Paramedic crew arrived and continued compressions. At the end of 2 minutes of CPR, a pulse was detected. OUR LATEST MIKEY SAVE IS DOING WELL. He says he is happy to be alive and is thankful for those who helped him. This MIKEY was placed at the school as part of our Mikey Young at Heart Program. To date, 31 LIVES HAVE BEEN SAVED BY A MIKEY! That’s why it’s so important to place MIKEYs in as many public places as possible. We want to make sure this life-saving device is available whenever the need might arise.
WE ARE KEEPING KIDS SMILING! To be told that your child could collapse and die without warning is overwhelming. To be unable to prevent it is even worse. Parents are finding comfort in knowing that The Mikey’s Kids program provides portable MIKEYs so their children can do all the fun things their friends do. Mikey’s Kids can go on vacation, go to the cottage and enjoy day trips, knowing that their MIKEY is going with them! To date, The Mikey Network has provided MIKEY defibrillators to over 200 KIDS and their families. The peace of mind that these MIKEYs provide is absolutely priceless – with moms and dads knowing that should their child’s heart skip a beat, life-saving help is close at hand.
