AN EXPLORATION OF WHY I AM HERE

i am here.

INTRODUCTION: Do what you love. My dad worked his ass off, even though he hated his job, so that his kids could do what they love for the rest of their life.

ME

I love Design & Music. And for almost ten years I have been pursuing my love fearlessly and it has led me to some awesome people and places. I don’t ever plan on stopping. I’d like to let you in to see my exploration thus far and what my ideas for the future. They will let you know why I am here.

UP NEXT: EXPERIENCES

OVER A MILLION FACES MELTED: For the past 5 years I have worked as designer with C3 presents, producing some of the most epic music festivals of all time. This opportunity has allowed me to be involved in every aspect of the creative production. Everything from merch design, to directional towers and installations. Oh yeah, and I’ve seen some bad ass shows. Such an honor to work with C3.

REASONS FOR WHAT: EXPERIENCES

FOR THE KIDS: In Brazil one summer I had a vision of doing art with kids that were stuck in a hospital bed everyday. So, when I got back I designed how the project would work and got Dick Blick to sponsor it. Twice a week I would go and paint with the kids. At the end of each season we had an Art show and raised cash.

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT: After a vicious flood that ruined the new art building at the University of Iowa, all art students/faculty were forced to move their work/classes into a Menard’s. (like a Lowe’s) For the first time ever, all of the art departments were under one roof. That’s a lot of students/art. So naturally, I had the idea for the first ever Studio Arts Festival. I wrote a proposal, designed and pitched the festival to the Director of the School of Art, and she loved it and helped me develop a produtcion team. My goal for the festival was to give every student a chance to show their work and make it as interactive as possible for the community. We attracted over 4,000 people and the festival still lives on.

ORACULAR SPECTACULAR:

After graduation, with the help of a Venezuelan prodigy named Fernando (fellow classmate) I started OracularDesign. The collaboration was perfect. And when we got our first pitch to a local fashion boutique we knew there was a bright future. It has been awesome to see how little they teach you about the real world in school. But on the upside, I learned how to run a business.

BREAKDOWN: I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together. To me its all about community and culture. I am here to not only do what I love, but to positively impact community and culture.

We are on the same team. I don’t care who, what, or where you are. You are here and I am here, so let’s make something happen. Design has the power to change everything and I plan to use that power.

WINTER WONDERLAND: Festivals always give customers, sponsors, and vendors the most bang for their buck. It’s a beautiful thing. This winter let’s bring the festival inside and make it an interactive experience for everyone involved. C3 presents has festivals down to a science. From booking to ticketing they can put on a show anytime, anywhere and pack the house. By collaborating with them and Budweiser I think we could have a pretty hot winter.

LOOK MA, IM ON THE KETCHUP BOTTLE: Some people put ketchup on everything. I have heard some pretty crazy ones and tried some. So let’s ask everyone:What do you put ketchup on? Because communities thrive on the sharing of experiences.
