A Word Or Two

My work since the late 1960s has been devoted to the essences and energies which first became manifest to me through Chinese Taoism and then through the entire alchemical pantheon of the form and formlessness of Asian philosophy and metaphysics.

There are three aspects to life –the physical, intellectual and the spiritual as in the world of things, the world of thought and the world of feelings. Some of these are present in all forms of life but it is only in man that all three come together in body, mind and spirit.

My studies and experiences led me to hypothesise the existence of one essential particle of matter which in turn led to my discovery of the “Tangle Particle” which manifests itself in two distinct and parallel ways and is explained through science and humanism.

It is the combination of all three that gives us the capacity to believe, to reason and to create. The traditional hierarchy of man’s needs is based on a solid platform of physiological needs with safety, love and belonging, esteem and self actualisation in ascending order above them. I believe that creativity, and the drive to become everything that one is capable of becoming, is in fact a basic need that must be met or there will be an imbalance in nature. I see the lack of balance in global affairs and the general shift towards a negative environment as evidence of this and therefore believe that the need to create, and facilitate creativity, is greater than ever.

World’s Largest Convention Centre

World renowned sculptor Richard X Zawitz has installed four magnificent monumental sculptures on the grounds of the Shenzhen Expo Bay that truly blend with the environment.

Four artworks, four dimensions. They dance in the universe, some of the works lose gravity in the universe, some of them row a small boat in the universe, and some cycle endlessly in the universe. Each space gives a clue for people to explore. Look for the infinite possibilities of each work story.

“We are thrilled to have Mr Zawitz Infinity and Tao sculptures sourrounding our campus with its magical positive energy sculptures. These works of art are the final and critical element to make ShenZhen Expo Bay a world class social and business environment”

“Infinite Anti-Gravity is the first in a series that may well be my most successful work. I truly feel I am working with a paradigm means of expression in four dimensions. These works are incredibly wonderful to be built and created. “Infinite Anti-Gravity” appears to defy gravity. We humans perceive time and space and gravity as unseen forces. It is through the Tao we truly understand nature.” Said Richard X Zawitz.

“When I first saw Richard x Zawitz’s works at the Shanghai Art Fair in 2019, I was moved by the artist’s idea of integrating East and West. His works are highly interactive and ornamental. At the exhibition site, children are encouraged to give full play to their potential infinite imagination and create anything in the form of the infinite surrounding of works, It is highly consistent with the concept of “art into life” advocated by ShenZhen Expo Bay. “ ShenZhen Expo Bay Art Director ToMASTER said.

“Guests from afar will end their busy day and stroll on the exquisite leisure belt. The relaxed and elegant works of art created by Richard X Zawitz are dotted with them. They will never see the commercial narrative scene of gunsmoke and return to paying attention to the individual and the inner rest time.”

As the world’s largest exhibition center, Shenzhen Expo Bay is not only an architectural spectacle on a broad spatial scale. It is like a never-ending commercial feast. A wide range of goods attracts attention in the carefully designed booth. Bustling merchants come here from all over the world to establish connections and return with full loads.

Richard x Zawitz studied Oriental philosophy in his early years and organically integrated it into his creative ideas. The concept of “infinity” seems to be general, but with the help of sculpture language, it reproduces the characteristics of communication, connection, integration and symbiosis of exhibition formats. Their free dancing posture crosses the cultural barrier, brings a pleasant viewing experience to every space participant of different nationalities and identities, and reflects artist’s understanding and exploration of the concepts of “Infinity” and “Tao”.
