A FEW WORDS FROM OUR DEVELOPER... Four new sections in Riverwood will begin selling homes in the next 30 days. The Newcastle section will have homes beginning in the $190s and up to the $230s. Bedford will offer homes from the $250s and up to the $300s. Admore will offer estate homes beginning in the $350s. There is also an extension to the Middleton Subdivision that will be offering 11 new homesites. Homes in the Middleton section will begin in the $180s. The new section of the trail system was complete this spring adding over 1,500 linear feet of trail connecting Napiers Post, Grahmstown, Middleton and Newcastle. We are also looking at two new trail extensions as well and once plans have been finalized we will share those locations with everyone. The development company will also be preparing an updated amenity plan so that every resident can make sure to take advantage of everything Riverwood Plantation offers. We continue to work hard to provide one of the best places you can call home in Columbia County. If you have any questions about what is going on please don’t hesitate to call me. Ann Marie Coterel did a wonderful job coordinating it! If you missed this one, we will have another in fall!

Chastain Night was a hit with many of our residents coming

out to join us. A huge thank you to Missi Neskorik for stepping in at the last minute and pulling it all together, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Summer Kick Off was the perfect way to enjoy this warm

weather! We had a fabulous turn out and can’t wait to do it again next year! A special thanks to First Choice Homebuilders and Publix for sponsoring this event!

ROOF CLEANING Before...

After!

Did You Know… Shingle roofs, over time, develop a black growth over the entire life of the shingle. The algae (Gloeacapsa magma) feed on organic filler materials such as limestone in asphalt shingles. Left unattended, this creates shortened shingle life, increases electric bills because of the insulating factor of the algae and is just not attractive from the street. Our process involves a high volume and very low pressure to apply professional quality detergents. No Pressure Washing Equipment is used in the process!!

Golf Cart Registration

After many requests from homeowners, we obtained the following information from Columbia County Sheriff’s Office clarifying one of the items of concern related to Golf cart operation in Riverwood Plantation. Senate Bill 519 “Operators of golf carts and landscape type vehicles must possess a valid driver’s license”. Note: Penalties for violations incurred by underage drivers can affect their ability to obtain a drivers license at age 16. Parents/ golf cart owners will be held responsible for inappropriate golf cart operation, injuries, damages and allowing underage operation in violation of the law. Safety is our number one concern! A big thank you goes out to the homeowners who have already registered with the community. Your homeowners association is diligently pursuing the registration of golf carts in Riverwood Plantation. Registration forms are available at our website www.riverwoodplantationhoa.com.

COVENANT CORNER Would You Like to See This on Your Street? Recently street parking in Riverwood has become a regular topic. There are currently no rules prohibiting parking on the street for short periods of time. Article XIII of the Master Declaration of Riverwood Plantation is pictured below for your reference.

Section 8: Vehicles, Parking and Repair. All trucks in excess of three-fourths (3/4) ton, commercial vehicles, campers, mobile homes, motor homes, boats, house trailers, boat trailers, and other trailers must be parked or stored in a fully enclosed garage or an area not visible from the street or any neighboring property. This prohibition shall not apply to temporary parking of trucks and commerical vehicles for pick up, delivery and other commercial services, or to vehicles used in connection with approved construction during the Development Period or thereafter. No inoperative cars, motorcycles, trucks, or other types of vehicles shall be allowed to remain either on or adjacent to a Parcel for a continuous period in excess of forty-eight (48) hours, unless kept in an enclosure and not visible from the street or any neighboring property. The Board may promulgate additional rules regulating the use, repair, storage and parking of vehicles, watercraft and equipment in Riverwood. Unless prohibited by the Board, Neighborhood Associations may also adopt rules regulating regulating the use, repair, storage and parking of vehicles, watercraft and equipment in their Neighborrhoods, including standards which are more strict than the Master Rules.

What we all want is to keep Riverwood beautiful and safe. Street Parking detracts from that. Children and pets cannot be seen walking out into the roadway between cars. Remember that Emergency vehicles need ample space to be able to come to our aid if needed. Everyone has an occasional guest who isn’t aware of our standards but as property owners in Riverwood Plantation we should consider what we all love about our picturesque community before using the streets as a parking area. To view our covenants, please visit riverwoodplantationhoa.com and click on “Bylaws”. If you have questions regarding the covenants, please email covenants@riverwoodplantation.com

FEATURED RECIPE

Shrimp Po-Boys with Spicy Mayo by Rocco Dispirito Recipe submitted by Angi Gordon 1/2 cup whole wheat flour 2 cups of whole wheat panko bread crumbs 3 egg whites 8 ounces of large shrimp peeled and deveined 1/2 cup of low fat mayonnaise 2 tablespoons of tabasco sauce 4 grain buns 4 leaves of shredded romaine lettuce 1/2 cup of jarred roasted red pepper strips

e to p i c re ve a are? a ! H sh now k s u Let

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Place a wire rack onto a cookie sheet and set aside. Place the flour in a shallow dish. Place the panko crumbs in another shallow dish. In a medium bowl, whisk the egg whites until they are extremely foamy, yet not holding peaks. Working in batches, dredge the shrimp in the flour, then shake off any excess and dredge through the egg whites. Remove the shrimp from the egg whites and coat them in the bread crumbs. Place the shrimp on the wire rack and bake them in the oven until the shrimp are cooked through, about 8 minutes. Meanwhile, stir the mayonnaise and tabasco sauce, and spread the spicy mayo generously on the cut sides of the buns. Place the shredded lettuce and red peppers on the bottom of each po-boy bun, and top with the shrimp. Place the top of the bun on the po-boy and serve. I serve my po-boys with a light pasta salad. The meal is perfect for quick socials, and is very light in calories, yet VERY satisfying.

What’s New in Riverwood? A Warm Welcome to Our New Accountant, Kym Murray! I am new to Riverwood Plantation and recently began working in the accounting area for the HOA. I earned my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, and have over 15 years experience in the accounting field. Most recently I worked for a property management company, and prior to that spent many years in the banking industry. We recently relocated to the Augusta area from Washington state – courtesy of the Army. We are enjoying our time here and are glad to be back in the south. My husband and I have been married for 18 years. We have two children, Kaitlyn and Braden, who will both attend Grovetown High School in the fall. In my spare time I enjoy watching my kids play sports and music, love to travel, cook, garden, and spend time with family. I look forward to my time here at Riverwood Plantation!

What We Heard at the Pool... We caught up with Amy Stephens at the Riverwood Pool enjoying a fun filled sunny day with her friends and family. Amy is an instructor with Bethany’s Bikini Boot camp here in Evans and has lived in the Newland Ridge neighborhood at Riverwood Plantation for six years with her husband and four children. Amy says that the best part about living in Riverwood is “The people!... and the community feeling in the neighborhood”. When we asked Amy if there was anything we could do to improve Riverwood Plantation for her and her family she said “I would like more gatherings in the individual neighborhoods or for the community as a whole which would strengthen the community even more”. Amy Stephens

We think Amy and her family are a big part of what makes Riverwood Plantation a great place to call home and look forward to seeing them at the pool all summer long!
