Group of 5 RVIM-CSR Student volunteers have cycled 16 Km (10 miles) on the eve of WSPD. The website of International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) was accessed for resources and 16 Km CYCLING registration under the TEAM name –RVIM CSR.

Addressed the media The image of the insert in Vijayavani newspaper was sent to all the students ( 170 students) through WhattsApp application with the support of Ms. Payal Jindal , Placement Incharge at RVIM. This initiated a lot of discussion and created a result oriented awareness programmes. 7|Page

The cycling rally impact in RVIM Campus The students were briefed through WhatsApp platform and ignited the forum for classroom discussions during the sessions of the III Semester MBA. The discussions were promoted to synchronize with the syllabus of ‘Media and Society’. This integration of ‘Engage to Change’ and the ‘Social Responsibility of Media’ supported the campus campaign to lead to 100 percent reach and accordingly the complete student group of all the classes and sections were informed about the importance and messages of ‘World Suicide Prevention Day’

The feedback was recorded from students randomly and the results were: 19 students used the brief descriptions likeInnovative and lot of learning. Very much appreciable. I am happy that my friends went to making awareness about suicide prevention. They have done a good job by raising voice against the issue. 1 student mentioned – Good effort. Not only suicide but also concentrate on traffic and also drug issue. 20 students had provided feedback in a paragraph length. Few read: It feels really good and enthusiastic when our friends take initiatives for the society. Suicide is the big problem for the society because it gives negative message to the youth of the society. It was an innovative idea and a good effort towards creating awareness among youngsters to prevent suicide. The presentation was good. Feels very good that the students are creating awareness regarding the suicide awareness for the students in special. This initiative carried out by our institute, we feel proud. Undoubtedly fearless effort with lots of appreciation for awareness event so took by RVIM.

All the students were informed to light a lamp or candle at home/hostel near the window at 8.00 pm on Sunday the September 10, 2017.Accordingly few sent the mail with photographs of light.

On Monday September 11, 2017 the students lead by Chandrika Krishnan addressed the students on various issues relating to Blue Whale and also suggested preventive measures to be adopted.

Audience during ‘Stop -Blue Whale’ Awareness Programme

11.9.2017 at 1.30 p.m. - Street Play The team staged street play at 2 locations. One near the college entrance as many students are here during lunch break. The other location was near bus stop as many students stand there for boarding the bus. The theme of the street play was predominantly focused on to reach for help when you are in distress. The misuse of mobile phone and its addiction to mobile phone apps of Blue Whale was also focused to create awareness on various issues affecting the youth today.

12.9.2017 at 2.00 pm : Art Work & Poster Making The students artist were identified and were assigned to create 2 posters depicting the theme of the awareness programme. Student artists Ashwini and Hemanth used their imaginations and lead a group of students to make the posters.

12.9.2017 at 3.45 pm: Reciting Poem Students Neha Pasha penned an English poem and Nikitha wrote her poem in kannada. Both the students recited the poem in the class. Neha Pasha poem was focused on challenges and obstacles in life. This is the original poem created on the day with the title ‘A better and a positive living’. Nikitha poem was titled ‘Irruvudonde Baduku’ meaning there is only one life.

13.9.2017 at 12.45 pm: Writing an Editorial and Slogan During the class session on ‘Media & Society’ engaged by Faculty A.Chandran the students were provided 20 minutes to write an editorial on World Suicide Prevention Day. The complete class of III Semester Section ‘B’ participated in the editorial writing. Few of the students were instructed to use their imagination and create a slogan. Accordingly slogans were created on the board for mass viewing and the entire class participated in the class awareness programme.

14.9.2017 at 10.30 pm: Art of making documentary films

A.Chandran, Faculty & Coordinator RVIM-CSR explaining the process of making documentary film to the students of III Semester. The topic of discussion was related to ‘Media & Society’. This interactive class initiated lot of discussion time on World Suicide Prevention Day and relevant statistics to be used in film making
