Datos y Recomendaciones Para ascender el Nevado de Olivares no se requiere de permisos especiales, pero se debe dar aviso a Carabineros de Juntas del Toro. Indicar en un escrito nómina completa de participantes, nacionalidad, número de pasaporte o cédula de identidad; incluyendo un detalle de la actividad que especifique itinerarios, fechas, ruta y un mapa de la zona. Por ser montaña fronteriza, en el caso de extranjeros se requiere permiso especial otorgado por DIFROL (www.difrol.cl).
Tips and Recommendations • No special permits are required to climb Olivares but you should inform the police in Juntas del Toro of your expedition, giving them a letter showing participants, nationalities, passport or ID numbers, details of activities and specific itineraries, dates, route and a map of the area. As the mountain is on the border, foreigners must ask for permission from DIFROL (www.difrol.cl).
Contar con vehículo 4x4 para el acercamiento hasta el Cajón de Infiernillos es ideal. Ver anexo para recomendaciones.
• It is recommended to make the approach in a 4x4 vehicle until the Cajón de Infiernillos. See appendix for recommendations.
Se recomienda contar con equipo y vestuario de alta montaña. Como parte del equipo técnico se sugiere llevar jalones, cuerdas, piolet y crampones.
• It is recommended to take equipment and clothing suitable for high altitude mountaineering. As part of the technical equipment it is suggested to take wands, ropes, ice axe and crampons. 224 225
