the woman behind the brand MEET KAYLA

I’m Kayla, owner and founder of Rustique. I started this business in 2016 after planning dozens of events as an amateur. I really wanted to start utilizing my natural talents in design and planning on a professional level, but I have found that the reason I keep doing it is because of the people that I meet and connect with. I truly didn’t realize in the beginning what a privilege it would be to play an integral part in one of the most important days in a person’s life. The friendships I have made and the reward of bringing someone’s vision to life on their wedding day is one of the greatest blessings. I’m California born, but a Montana girl at heart and my style somewhat reflects that. Flowers have my heart, as does detailed place settings, and I love that moment when it is time for the client to walk in and see the finished product. I have to tell you, I live for that. No better feeling than that shock and surprise!

Event Design One of the most difficult tasks for most brides is the actual design of the wedding. There are so many resources out there for inspiration, which is great, but can also be too much of a good thing. It can become so overwhelming deciding what the best and most realistic ideas are for your budget and theme. The event design service typically includes the following. 

Visual renderings of every aspect of your event. Arch, tablescape, floral, backdrops, and more. You get to see every single aspect of your event digitally before committing to rentals and décor.

Site visit to plan layout and design. We will also ask all the necessary questions to ensure we can execute our plan. Some venues have the most random rules!

Access to all of our industry discounts including several major online décor retailers and specialty linen rental companies. We typically save most brides more money than they pay us to do the design because of this.

Access to floral at wholesale if you have interest in doing it yourself.

Detailed instructions on any DIY projects if you opt to not have us complete them.

Event Setup It makes sense that the person designing the wedding is also the one overseeing the setup. It is for that reason that 95% of our design clients also book us for setup, but it is certainly not required for us to design your event. We can also help with setup, even if we weren’t the one who designed your wedding. We are very flexible with the service packages that we bundle for each of our clients. Setup typically is lead by Kayla or a Senior Rustique designer and one assistant. We bring in as many people as necessary to make sure the job gets done efficiently and to a client’s expectations.


Day Of Coordination Arguably one of the most important services we offer here at Rustique is Day of Coordination. Why? Well because no matter how organized you are or how good of a planner you are, you cannot physically coordinate all of the activities on the day of. You will be getting ready and should be relaxing and taking in the day. It has to fall to someone though and usually that is mothers, aunts, cousins, or close friends that otherwise should be focused on the couple and the festivities. We are there from start to finish taking care of last minute details, telling vendors what to do and where to go, making sure the day follows the planned timeline, and handling any issues so you don’t even know about them. This service typically includes the following. 

Contact with all vendors one month prior to introduce ourselves, answer any questions, and discuss logistics, timelines, and layout.

Creation of day timeline with collaboration from all vendors.

Consultation with you one month prior to tie up any loose ends, address any outstanding concerns, and to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Review of all vendor contracts to ensure there are no areas of concern.

Management of all scheduled events on day of timeline. We will make the decision (with your input if necessary) to slow things down or speed things up behind the scenes to ensure the event goes as close to plan as possible.

Distribute final payments and gratuities to all wedding vendors on the wedding day on your behalf.

Ceremony review and input to make sure we are on the same page and to highlight anything we see as being a potential issue.

Attendance at rehearsal and assistance as needed with timing, flow, and other related questions.

Creation and completion of custom “day of checklist” for items that cannot be done until the day of. This list will be finalized during the final walk through on the day prior to the event.


Full Planning We are full service planning company and are also capable of planning your entire event in addition to everything we have already covered. Essentially, full planning includes everything we have already touched on as well as the following services. 

Partial Planning Maybe you need some help with planning, but don’t need everything listed above. No worries at all! We will create a custom planning package based on your needs and budget. No wedding is the same, so we don’t treat our service packages that way either. We are all about making your life easier and bringing you the most value for your investment.


Floral Design As we mentioned before, floral design is a huge passion for us. We love doing floral and are always finding new and unique ways to express ourselves through flowers. We appreciate rare blooms and specialize in designs with movement while still maintaining their structure to create an effortless and visually appealing aesthetic.

Event Rentals We have a large and growing inventory of event rentals that can cover your event from top to bottom. From chairs to everything to set a table to arches and vintage furniture– we have you covered. Our collection is curated from all over the country (and the world in some instances) and we try to stock unique pieces and styles that not every other rental company has. We want your event to be unique!

WEDDING PLANNING TIPS

Don’t worry about spending the most amount of money or even the least amount of money. Decide what elements are the most important to you and make your biggest investment on those elements.

Don’t stress about favors. Most of them will get left behind even if they are the most adorable Pinterest worthy favors ever. It is an outdated budget eater than can easily be cut out. Trust us!

Unless your wedding is less than 50 people, you must have a seating chart of some sort. Seriously! Your guests will thank you later and will enjoy cocktail hour so much more without stressing about finding a seat.

Don’t sweat the small stuff! You will look back and only remember the big moments. Things like cake toppers and table number styles will long be forgotten.

Hire a day of coordinator! Seriously, you need one. Even if it isn’t us please consider hiring one. Even if it is a friend you can trust to help, you should still pay them. People always do a better job when they are getting paid.

Make a budget early and cut your guest list if things are feeling too expensive. Your guest count is the biggest contributing factor to expenses.

You know the secret wedding Pinterest board you started before you were even engaged with 507 pins on it? Yeah…..scrap it. Pick twenty or so pins that are your absolute faves for design/floral and start anew. Start separate boards for styling.

When you feel that overwhelming feeling coming on (and it will) please keep perspective on what this day is about. It will all come together! It always does!
