MODULE TWO DIGITIZE & ELABORATE - SECTIONAL SLICES PHASE ONE, SHAPE SIMULATION

The shape is explored based on the carbon atom composition of a nucleotide molecule. therefore i choose to use contour method 01 for my approach.

Due to the specialiaty of the design (a scientific interpretation instead of an abstract shape), it would be more accurate to use polygon tool to form and plot the sections directly (using original model sections as a reference) instead of slicing actual models.

The polygons are made in actual scale, i.e 45mm for each side.

Plotting out structures cyclohexan and cyclopentane structures for representing different types of nucleotides’ conformation

By drawing curves around the base shape, the polygons are then turned into a smooth curve as a whole and ready to be put on top of each other.

by deleting the polygons, a perfect smooth curved line can be acquired. (degree 2)

Rotate the structure around the central point by 13 degree in positive direction, for making a twist

Finish the process off with a few final adjustments.

Begin to adjust the angle of each plate to achieve some dimensional movements

Each plate is rotated about the X direction (line through the central point) in angles of 2.4, 4.1, 6.8, 7.1, 4.5, 1.5, -1.8, -3.3, -6.5, -8.3, -5.4 and -1.4 degree. The period is 2 and repeats 3 times.

Each plate is rotated about the Y direction (line through the central point) base on the previous measurement but in a reversed manner. Elevation of the refined model
