identity

The Maasvlakte is a project on a national scale. It is part of the long history of civil works of making new land and dealing with water. Within that tradition it is also a unique project. Maasvlakte is a ecnomy driven development of making new land, instead of other projects, which mostly are based on our fight against water.

The unflexible program is more situated aroud the harbour. It’s directly related to the harbour. Or it contains chemistry-factory’s which are quite inflexible

planning of Maasvlakte 1 and 2 are done in optimistic economic times. During a economc recession, there should be some flexibility in plans in order to start new developments. The urban strategy for the Maasvlakte should not be that economic-dependant.

masterplan

masterplan Maasvlakte 2 the existing masterplan is tested on all economic scenario’s. It is too fixed for the 2 economic scenario’s which are containing a growing harbour. A few elements are blocking the potence of the harbour.

growing harbour Maasvlakte 2 is being made for future generations. A scenario of a growing harbour must be taken into account. A few changes on the masterplan creates long-term opportunities as well as short-term opportunities

2 options for infrastructure

cons; -A15 is situated in a protected naturezone

masterplan mv2

pros; - slufter becomes part of distrisite - in the longterm, distripark can extend on the slufter -infrastructure becomes more rational

pros; - slufter becomes half part of distrisite - distripark can in the mid-longterm extend on the slufter -infrastructure becomes more rational

A15 is blocking the development of a growing harbour earlier developments possible infrastructure

cons; -political delicate intervention??
