s in all city centres in Sweden, the corona darkness in Uppsala has been compact. Shops and restaurants have been struggling and when it seemed to get better the second wave came and Uppsala was the worst affected of all cities. Lisa Thörn, CEO of Uppsala Citysamverkan, shakes her head. – It has been a very tough period. Restrictions and advices have hit all businesses in the city very hard.
At the same time, says Lisa, the creativity among shop owners and restaurateurs has never been greater. Despite the uphill climb in the last six months, almost no entrepreneurs have given up,
but instead one more exciting idea has replaced the other. Many shops have improved their websites and now sell a lot online, most restaurants have expanded their take away and there are plans for collaborations everywhere and plans on how to move forward this spring if the pandemic persists. Lisa is impressed by the members’ attitude. – Many people have struggled a lot, but there are surprisingly few who give up. Instead, they have found different creative solutions.
The time before Christmas usually means a lot of people and commotion but this year will be different. After all, Lisa Thörn is optimistic. – I always try to see the

positive side. The Christmas decorations and lights in the city are more beautiful than ever. This year people will surely be friendlier to each other. Just hang in and there and support each other and the business owners. Soon the corona period is over and then Uppsala city is the world’s best city centre again.
