INTRODUCTION I ve recently given my Design Dissertation from Mumbai University. My experience in Architecture school has built an evergrowing interest in the design of public spaces and the landscape details that go behind it. I’ve learned to cross my comfort zones to seek a better understanding of the theory & context that goes behind an architectural work.

AIM

OBJECTIVES

WORK AND LIFE

To investigate workspaces and evaluate its effect on the lifestyle of the employees.

1. To compare the traditional paradigms of workspaces to the neoliberal and globalized offices of today.

The proposed programme intends to break this engineered structure of spaces and its activities. It aims at stunting the growing entanglement between work and life by introducing spatial breaks within workspaces. A dialogue between work and life is need in order to stop one from supressing the other. This dialogue is made through audio visual connections or physical intrusions.

2. To achieve a balance between maintaining company priorities and employee well being.

HYPOTHESIS By examining the negative social economic and lifestyle trends from the period of modernism to present day it is clear that there is a narrowing entanglement between work and life. The reconfiguration of the work routine and workspaces with reference to their position volume and transitional spaces can break the monotony and lighten the impact of the said negative trends.

3. To formulate a modular configuration that can be replicated in office campuses which would prevent the growing enmeshing of work and life.

FORMULATION OF USERBASE We consider the collaborative layout that has emerged from the shift of product sold from good to services in the post industrial era. Companies work in tandem combining their services to generate profit. A generic layout taken from companies that work with information technology is depicted below.

SITE: KHARGHAR SECTOR 29 RO

During the analysis of Google AD and Apple work campuses it was evident that campuses & the communities in satellite towns can have a mutually lucrative relationship. Campuses help develop the town through participation & payment of taxes and the town provides ample land and a healthy environment for the campus.

P L A Y SITE SELECTION DOCUMENTATION

Location: Mankhurd An initiative called Right to Play was formed under Purva Dewoolkar the architect under Transformation of M Ward Project. It aims at studying the state of open spaces within the M ward and help communities build their own makeshift play spaces. OPTION 1

DOCUMENTATION: Areas marked as open spaces recreational grounds and play ground across ‘M’- east ward were documented. The important aspects observed were their current functions, users, utilities, housing & context. SITE SELECTION: In order to select a site for the first Right to Play intervention Maharashtra Nagar was selected as they were the most unfortunate in terms of the Human Development Index as well as the sheer lack of play spaces. DESIGN: The design process involved budgeting sourcing and planning in terms skills available, volunteers, school & study centre timings, etc. Equipments & use were designed to promote learning, sharing and were catered to different age groups. CONSTRUCTION: The process of construction demanded negotiation at every step with volunteers, skilled labours, municipality, vendors & the community. Materials were tested against the daily use and their prices.

Location: Hypothetical location with a climate similar to Ubud, Indonesia Objectives: 1. Climate-conscious design

3. Club house & recreation.

2. High-rise residential building. 4. Gated-community.

By providing pedestrian only access to the bungalows it creates a more private atmosphere for the bungalows. Trees with larger coverage are able to cover the foothpath thus also providing ample weather protection to pedestrians

By titling orientation of the bungalow and making the vertices face the sides of the fencing. This lets each side of the house to face a large area of the landscaping within the area creating A stronger connection to The outside environment.
