ROYAL AIR MAROC AIRPORT LOUNGE LOCATION: Casabla1nca, Morocco SIZE: 7030 SQF PROJECT OVERVIEW: Designing an airport lounge based in Casablanca, Morocco that incorporates respect for past traditions and design styles by focusing on the geographic bearing, cultural and social norms, hierarchy, status and religious influences, as they relate to the importance of design motifs and colors used in the architecture, interiors, and textiles of that region. DESIGN CONCEPT: A lounge with an exceptional blend of different design elements influenced by the Moroccan culture. Use of the concept of ‘’riad” as a way to space plan for the lounge, where the courtyard (Food/drink Area) is placed in the center of the space with a central fountain decorated by Zellige (an authentic Moroccan tile made from individually chiseled geometric tiles set into a plaster base.) Surrounded by pointed arches to divide zones.

FINISH CONCEPT Drawing inspiration from Morocco’s landscape, shades of blue and green from the Atlantic and Mediterranean, shimmering gold and silver invoking the Sahara sands, and rich reds and oranges that conjure images of African sunsets.
