e are delighted to be able to offer this fantastic sponsorship opportunity to experience the unrivalled atmosphere and entertainment at the performances of the most exciting comedy company to visit Cyprus. This summer, Rubber Ear Productions will be touring Cyprus with The Devil Wears Primark, a follow up to last year’s successful Sex, Chips and Ouzo. With your chosen guests, we invite you to fabulous evenings of theatre and comedy, the chance to mingle with the stars of the show and of course advertising exposure to thousands of theatre-goers and media readers and listeners throughout the island. Corporate sponsorship is a lovely way to engage your clients by providing them with an unforgettable evening at a worldclass event, right here in Cyprus. Rubber Ear Productions Triple award-winning theatre company Rubber Ear Productions are back in Cyprus this September with their new comedy, The Devil Wears Primark. This is a world premiere of the play, which will be performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2013. The critically acclaimed Sex, Chips and Ouzo is currently being transferred to the big screen following its sensational success in the UK and Britain. Writer and star of the play, Kathleen Ruddy is working in collaboration with New York and Los Angeles Film Festival award winner David Goodall and filming on location in Cyprus and Glasgow. The play has been re-written by Ruddy to adapt to film but remains as true as possible to the original script and characters. Last year’s tour was a resounding success and a great hit with audiences island-wide. This year Rubber Ear Productions have added two new venues to the tour (Paralimni and Akrotiri) in an attempt to widen their appeal and make headway into new markets.

'All mother-in-laws are created equal. But some are more equal than others’ The Devil Wears Primark

D

id you hear the one about the motherin-law that worked as a radio show sex therapist and got awarded an MBE for services to the entertainment industry? Her husband was a narcoleptic, closet crossdresser with post-war traumatic disorder, her daughter can barely communicate, even with the aid of badly-made hand puppets and her evil-minded prodigal son is trying to push the entire dysfunctional mess right over the edge. The plot centres around a dementedly unbalanced London-Cypriot family that comes together to 'celebrate' the imminent MBE award for Athenoulla Georgiou, their controlling mother and wife, whose questionable radio sex therapy advice to the UK listeners extends to members of her own family whether they want it or not. As with all of Ruddy's previous award-winning plays; Sex, chips and Ouzo, Check Your Coupon and Glasgow Hard Tickets, the dialogue bristles with inventiveness and sharp humour, the action is unpredictable and the plot twists and turns in a maze of surprises. With Rubber Ear Productions the performance is guaranteed to be flawless and energetic and, more importantly, belly-achingly funny.

public. Drawn mostly from the retired and employed British expatriate community, our numbers have recently been boosted by the substantial and welcome addition of Cypriot repatriates (UK, South Africa, Australian and Canadian diaspora) as well as visiting UK tourists and Cypriot Englishspeakers. We have a loyal fan-base on the island, particularly in the Paphos, Pegeia, Tala, Pissouri, Limassol and Eastern Sovereign Base Areas and are currently introducing ourselves to the western side of the island on this tour. The illustration below shows a breakdown of our typical audience. The data was recorded from the 2011 tour of Sex, Chips and Ouzo, specifically from sell-out audiences at The Crown Resorts Horizon Hotel in Pegeia (Coral Bay), the Ancient Odeon Amphitheatre in Kato Paphos and Paradise Place in Pomos.
