CHARACTER DESIGN OBJECTIVE For my animation course we were asked to animate and create a short film. CONCEPT I was inspired by my connection with my work and designs to create an animation about the relationship between avrtwork and their creator. I was also inspired by the artist Modigliani and thus based my characters on his life, specifically with his lover Jeanne. Jeanne was the subject of most of his art. She committed suicide the day after Modigliani’s death. I chose to re-illustrated different paintings of Jeanne, showing her melancholic reaction to his death.
BACKGROUND DESIGN CONCEPT The illustration below depicts Modigliani in his studio. preoccupatedwith art and Jeanne.
SELFPORTRAIT OBJECTIVE For my rendering course we were asked to create a self portrait using watercolour and ink. CONCEPT I exaggerated my features to make the portrait more interesting. The colour palette used portrayed my emotions at that time and created a huge contrast with the ink.
HEBRON OBJECTIVE Create an illustration based on a city in Palestine and use it for different articules of clothing. CONCEPT I wanted to emphasize the beauty of abandoned buildings and known places and how they can tell a story about the current situation in Palestine.
IMPLEMENTATION I applied the illustration on different articles of clothing
FOOD OBJECTIVE For my illustration course we were asked to show the journey of any dish using five frames CONCEPT I decided to show the journey of a steak by animating the meat and making the viewers sympathise with the meat using dark humour
Fashion, art and Typography Celebrity Inspiration
ART AND FASHION OBJECTIVE We were asked to choose a phrase or a word and to create a piece accordingly. CONCEPT I chose the word “MUSE” as I am always inspired by the people around me and by small details. In this piece I chose to highlight the relationship between art and fashion, as art arguably might enhance fashion’s cultural communication. I chose to make a leather jacket and incorporate different artworks through it. I also aimed to create modern art that will attract millenials.
IMPLEMENTATION Using mesh, canvas fabric and leather.
Winnie Harlow OBJECTIVE We were asked to choose a celebrity and make three pieces inspired by them.
CONCEPT Winnie Harlow is a fashion model. She was diagnosed with vitiligo aged four; It is a condition that causes the loss of skin colour in patches. Her confidence inspired me thus I decided to make my collection based on contrasts that work well together. I created contrasts by using two different fabrics, designs and patterns in each piece.
SOUVENIR OBJECTIVE We were asked to make a new souvenir for Jordan. CONCEPT My goal was to redesign an ordinary, every day item. I wanted to make an unusual souvenir that combines usability and aesthetics. Thus I decided to make a clothes hanger. This would integrate culture to the consumer’s everyday life. It is a personal item that is used by everyone. I took elements from famous landmarks in Amman and used typography as well. I wanted to create a hanger for each city in Jordan
SKETCHES AND IMPLEMENTATION
MAGIC OBJECTIVE We were asked to create an arabic font for an object of our choice. CONCEPT Magic has been present since the begining of time, where people began to write symbols on caves to protect them. There are different types of magic for various uses, but most of them have something incommon which is deception and manipulation. Today, popular magic depends on manipulation of attention where the magician draws attention away from whats important. In my font I tried to mimic the old style of magic by creating a font made entirely of abstact symbols derived from the actual letters. I also used the concept of deception as I hid the dots of the letters to draw the attention away from them.
PATTERN OBJECTIVE Creating a pattern inspired by a place you connect to
CONCEPT I chose a local art gallery . The front of the gallery is also a shop featuring jewels. I was intrigued by the unconventional presentation of the work exhibited and by the interior and exterior design and the overall aura the places give. After giving it a lot of thought, I realized the reason I liked the place is how it brings people to see with another eye and an open mind, its a reminder that there is more to everyday ordinary objects. It shows how we can see objects with no limitation to their function. All the elements in the design were inspired by objects in the gallery which show the unpredictabe and unconvential nature of the artist’s display.
Illustrations and Photography OBJECTIVE During my internship, I was asked to create ads for an Italian restaurant CONCEPT I decided to combine illustration with photography to show the actual dishes with a fun twist which depicts the overall nature of the place
